Princeton Arts Fellowships, funded in part by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, David E. Kelley Society of Fellows in the Arts, and the Maurice R. Greenberg Scholarship Fund, will be awarded to artists whose achievements have been recognized as demonstrating extraordinary promise in any area of artistic practice and teaching. Applicants should be early career visual artists, filmmakers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors and performance artists—this list is not meant to be exhaustive—who would find it beneficial to spend two years teaching and working in an artistically vibrant university community.

Princeton Arts Fellows spend two consecutive academic years (September 1-July 1) at Princeton University and formal teaching is expected. The normal work assignment will be to teach one course each semester subject to approval by the Dean of the Faculty, but fellows may be asked to take on an artistic assignment in lieu of a class, such as directing a play or creating a dance with students. Although the teaching load is light, our expectation is that Fellows will be full and active members of our community, committed to frequent and engaged interactions with students during the academic year.

A $92,000 a year stipend is provided. Fellowships are not intended to fund work leading to an advanced degree. One need not be a U.S. citizen to apply. Holders of Ph.D. degrees from Princeton are not eligible to apply.

Past recipients of the Hodder Fellowship and individuals who have had a sustained and continuous relationship with Princeton University are not eligible to apply. Those who have had an occasional and sporadic relationship with Princeton may apply.

To apply, please submit a curriculum vitae, contact information for three references (should the search committee choose to contact references, please do not request letters or have letters sent in advance of a request from the search committee), and work samples (i.e., a writing sample, images of your work, video links to performances, etc.). Please also submit a 750-word proposal that includes how you would hope to use the two years of the fellowship to develop your work, how you would contribute to Princeton’s arts community through teaching and/or production, and how you have encouraged diversity and inclusion and furthered accessibility in your artistic practice, teaching, and/or research.

Applicants can only apply for the Princeton Arts Fellowship twice in a lifetime.

Since 1983, LMCC’s Manhattan Arts Grants have supported Manhattan-based artists, arts groups and community-focused organizations in accessing public funds for the presentation of rich arts activities with the public. These projects have been integral to the cultural vibrancy and arts-driven resiliency of Manhattan

With support from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Howard Gilman Foundation and the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation, LMCC’s Creative Engagement, Creative Learning and UMEZ Arts Engagement programs provide technical support to applicants and awards of up to $16,000 to enable hundreds of arts projects in all disciplines, serving Manhattan communities from Inwood to The Battery.

Our grants are often among the first awards an artist or group receives and can help recipients to leverage additional support from other sources. Recommendations for awards are made through a juried selection process comprising artists and arts leaders whose expertise reflects the cultural and creative diversity of Manhattan.

Presenting Art Collide’s "Open Theme”, Fall 2024, international competition and online exhibition. Artists of all ages from around the world are invited to participate, with complete freedom in choosing their preferred media and style. The competition's theme is "Open," allowing participants to express their creativity by submitting artworks on any subject matter of their choice. Only artists whose works are selected as finalists will be required to pay a $35 participation fee. Finalists will have their artwork showcased online and advance to the final round of judging, where they will be considered for cash prizes, including the chance to win the grand prize of $1,000.

Open Theme:

In contrast to themed competitions that dictate a specific topic or idea, open-themed contests like this one grant artists the freedom to express their creativity without confines on subject matter. Such competitions foster a plethora of artistic interpretations and styles, enabling artists to delve into diverse themes, concepts, and genres driven by their personal interests, experiences, or creative musings. This format empowers artists to exhibit their uniqueness and artistic flair.

Open-themed art contests encompass a broad spectrum of visual arts, spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital art, and more. The open theme's adaptability results in a varied and dynamic array of submissions, establishing an inclusive platform that accommodates artists with varying preferences and styles.

Since its founding in 1907, MacDowell has imbued its spaces with a deep and abiding respect for artists and their creative work. In the 21st century, this fundamental kindness is sustained by the curiosity, generosity, and goodwill circulating within the resident community.
While MacDowell may be thought of as a place apart from the world, the resident population will always be comprised of individuals who are of the world. MacDowell strives to offer ideal working conditions for artists within a joyful and mutually supportive environment. Consistent with that mission, all Fellows are obliged to adopt the community agreement as a condition of accepting a Fellowship. Doing so will help ensure that all Fellows may participate in the enriching exchange that has given rise to countless friendships and collaborations.
Artists interested in applying for a MacDowell Fellowship will complete an online application found via MacDowell’s website. The application includes informational forms as well as a place to upload work samples. All details and requirements are found within the application.

440 Gallery announces the Call for Entries for the 20th annual Small Works Show 2024. This national, juried exhibition celebrates the innovation of artists who create work on a small scale in a broad range of media and styles. The exhibition will be on display in the 440 Gallery, Park Slope, Brooklyn space from November 14 to December 20, 2024.

This opportunity is open to artists who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry and who have a US shipping address. Work must be no more than 12 inches (12”) in any direction, including the framing, mounting, or video monitors. The artwork may represent any subject matter. All media—including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, drawings, sculptures in any medium, collage, printmaking, photography, and digital media—will be considered. ⁠

Union Hall’s annual Rough Gems Curatorial Program showcases the work of three Denver-based curators or curatorial teams in a pop-up exhibition format. Reflecting its mission to bridge East and West through the arts, the Boghossian Foundation launches an international Prize to celebrate artists whose work fosters a better mutual understanding among cultures.

The Prize is intended to pay tribute, each year, to three winners for their work promoting a dialogue between civilisations, a principle that lies at the heart of the mission of the Boghossian Foundation. There is no age limit for the Prize.

Chaired by Jean and Albert Boghossian, the international jury will reward artists in the fields of visual arts, design and crafts, and jewellery.

The Visual Arts Prize will be awarded to a piece of art inspired by cultural dialogue. The Design and Crafts Prize reflects the importance of reconsidering everyday objects through the lens of ancestral Eastern craftsmanship. The Jewellery Prize seeks to explore modern jewellery by borrowing from the vast heritage of the world’s cultures.

Only projects promoting intercultural dialogue will be considered.

The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, established in 1956, offers grants to support innovative ideas about architecture and its role in society. The foundation focuses on projects that investigate contemporary conditions, expand historical perspectives, or explore the future of the designed environment.

The grant program is open to a wide range of practitioners, including architects, scholars, artists, and educators, as well as organizations like non-profit galleries and universities. The foundation prioritizes projects that contribute to public discourse and reach new audiences.

For individual grants, the foundation aims to support crucial or transformative stages in careers, enable new forms of expression, and help communicate work to wider audiences. They particularly encourage first-time applicants.
Evaluation criteria include originality, potential impact, feasibility, and the applicant's capacity. The application process involves two stages: an initial online Inquiry Form, followed by an invited Proposal Form for selected applicants.
The Graham Foundation seeks to provide critical support at key points in project development, fostering diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its broader cultural context.

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks an artist to create a suspended, aerial public art installation for the Northern Colorado Regional Airport. An aviation-themed, suspended public art installation within the main terminal seating area will be a primary focus for travelers. The themes of aviation, nature, history, and the local community are the primary artistic elements desired within this airport setting. PROJECT BUDGET: $30,000; Deadline to apply is 9/15/2024.

VCCA Fellows are selected by peer review on the basis of professional achievement or promise of achievement in their respective fields. Separate review panels are created for each category (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, playwriting/screenwriting, children’s literature, performance, film/video, book arts, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, installation art, music composition, etc.). Panelists undergo periodic review and rotate regularly to ensure VCCA admission decisions are guided by high caliber artists who represent a diversity of styles and tastes.

Art Scene West is opening its submission doors to Abstract Artists everywhere! From this call opportunity, up to 20 artists will be selected to have their unique paintings adorn the walls of our downtown San Diego gallery for 2 months beginning October 4th - November 30th. During that time artists' work will also be displayed on our Online Gallery and promoted on our social media channels and website. Our gallery is located in Seaport Village of downtown San Diego, a beautiful attraction where tourists and locals gather to enjoy the seaside businesses, luxury restaurants, and beautiful Southern California weather. Selected artists will also enjoy their own artist page on the Art Scene West website, featuring their artist bio, personal statement, artist photo, and artwork photo for the duration of the exhibition. They will benefit from our social media, email, and local promotional campaigns for the duration of the exhibition. An archive of the show will also be permanently available on the Art Scene West website. Artists will get a 70% commission on their art sale.

The Hambidge Center, located on 600 forested acres in north Georgia, offers a unique residency program for creatives. As the oldest residency program in the Southeast, it provides a self-directed experience that respects the individual creative process.

The center accommodates small groups of 8-10 residents, each given a private studio with living space and kitchen. Communal vegetarian dinners are served Tuesday through Friday, fostering collaboration and friendships among diverse participants from various creative fields.

Key features include specialized facilities like the Antinori Pottery Studio and a Steinway grand piano. Two ADA-compliant studios are available, though the terrain is generally uneven and rustic.

Residents should be prepared for a secluded environment with no cell service or in-studio internet. The center emphasizes a focused, distraction-free creative experience.

Applications for the Spring Session (mid-February through May) are accepted from August 1 to September 15 of the previous year. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review all guidelines and FAQs before applying.

The Hambidge Center offers a unique opportunity for creatives to immerse themselves in nature and their work, fostering a supportive community while respecting individual processes.

The Center for Book Arts offers a year-long residency program for early and mid-career artists living in New York City. The program aims to support artists in exploring book arts and expanding their artistic practice.

Four to six residencies are awarded annually, welcoming applicants with varying levels of experience in book arts. The residency includes a $1,500 stipend, up to $6,000 in course tuition waivers, and 24-hour access to CBA's Manhattan studios.

Residents are expected to spend 20-40 hours per week in the studios, attend public programs, participate in quarterly BookTalks, and contribute to a group exhibition. The program offers opportunities for public speaking, collaboration, and studio visits with curators and artists.

Applicants must submit an artist statement, CV, 10 work samples, and an image list. The residency runs from January to December 2025 and is open to individual artists only, with a focus on those living in the five boroughs of New York City.

The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds in any way they choose.

Each year, an open-call application is made available in each of the seven active partner cities. Supporting artists equitably is a critical part of the Artadia Award process: we consider the unique populations of each community and are proud to reflect our country’s diversity with an Awardee pool that is over 50 percent female and over 40 percent persons of color.

In addition to financial support, Awardees can participate in the Artadia Network to receive structured opportunities for valuable new connections and resource sharing as well as receive a dedicated webpage on Artadia’s online Artist Registry. Connections fostered by Artadia have facilitated major steps in Awardees’ careers, such as inclusion in prominent exhibitions (e.g. five Awardees were featured in the 2017 Whitney Biennial, and six in 2019).

Australia’s most diverse art prize for emerging contemporary artists, the churchie emerging art prize (‘the churchie’), has officially opened entries for 2024. This national prize, invites early-career artists to enter for a chance to exhibit and be considered for awards totalling an over $40,000 prize pool. Entries are open to all emerging Australian artists over 18, regardless of age, practice, or medium.

The call for entries will run until 16 September. Industry experts will be searching for diverse, innovative, and unique pieces that showcase Australian contemporary art in practice to feature at the Finalist’s Exhibition from 22 – 30 November, hosted at Metro Arts for the first time.

Now in its 37th year, ‘the churchie’ is Australia’s longest-running prize for emerging artists and provides an exceptional platform for career opportunities, education, and direct engagement with the broader arts community.

Artists 18+ from PA, NJ, NY, DE, MD, VA and Washington, D.C. are eligible to submit up to two original works created between 2022 and 2024. Artists are permitted to submit additional applications. Juror – Scott Noel
Scott Noel serves as juror for The Figure: Portraiture & Narrative – A Juried Exhibition.

After completing undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, Noel moved to Philadelphia in 1978. His first important solo exhibition was in the Fleisher Challenge Series in 1980. Since that time, he has mounted over 40 major shows across the country. Noel is represented by Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia and his work is included in numerous private, public and corporate collections including the Museum of the Pennsylvania Academy, the Woodmere Art Museum, the Arkansas Art Center and the Pennsylvania Convention Center. From 1996-2024, Noel taught drawing and painting in the undergraduate and graduate programs at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. His legacy as an educator also includes teaching at The University of the Arts, Arcadia University and Community College of Philadelphia.

"Figure paintings have always wedded specific individuals with narrative roles. Think of Lorenzo de Medici, Hendrickje, Stoffels, Victorine Meurent and Leigh Bowery playing both themselves and characters in the pictorial fictions of Botticelli, Rembrandt, Monet and Lucian Freud. Almost all figure paintings imply a question about the relationship between the model and the role they play even in boardroom portraits of captains of industry. Characterization, analysis, likeness and a sense of drama are entangled in visual art." Juror Scott Noel

Prizes in the amount of $3,000+ will be awarded and presented at the Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 3-5 pm.

Works submitted must have been completed after January 1, 2022. All works must be for sale. Works previously exhibited at Wayne Art Center are not eligible.

Collaborative work is accepted. Please include all artists’ names on the online application.

Please contact Wayne Art Center if you have an excessively large and/or complex installation. Additional expense will be incurred by the artist if artwork requires carpentry, special surface treatment to gallery walls or a custom-built pedestal/armature or specific installation request.

All accepted work MUST BE HAND-DELIVERED to and RETRIEVED from Wayne Art Center. NO shipped work will be accepted. NO exceptions.

Artwork must remain on display throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Insurance and Liability
While all precautions will be taken to ensure the protection of selected work upon receipt, Wayne Art Center cannot assume liability for any loss or damage to artwork in transit. Wayne Art Center provides insurance coverage only while work is on our premises. All work will be insured for 60% of its retail value.

Submission of work to this exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist to all terms and conditions of this entire prospectus, which includes, but is not limited to, the right of Wayne Art Center to use entries images for publicity purposes. Wayne Art Center will not be responsible for works not claimed by Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Work not retrieved by November 27, 2024 will become the property of Wayne Art Center and available for sale at 100% commission to WAC.

Installation
All work should be submitted installation ready. Framed work should arrive wired and ready to hang and 3D work should be stable enough to sit securely on a pedestal or come with a base that provides stability. If artwork installation is overly complex, Wayne Art Center will contact the artist to request assistance with the installation process. An artist may be required to assume financial responsibility for any alternations (painted walls, site-specific pedestals, armatures, lighting, electrical, etc.) that are requested or required by a particular installation. The artist is welcome to install their complex artworks if necessary. Installation requests must be requested in advance and approved by Wayne Art Center.

Sales Policy
All work must be for sale and the price identified on the entry application must remain constant throughout the duration of the exhibition. Wayne Art Center processes all sales and will retain 40% commission of the sale price, or on any sale that results from mediation by Wayne Art Center staff. Wayne Art Center processes all resulting commissions of work that occur as a result of this exhibition at the same rate of 60/40 Artist/WAC.

The NCECA Multicultural Fellowship program, now in its 11th year, aims to increase conference participation from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

For 2025, up to 20 fellowships will be awarded, providing up to $850 for conference expenses. Eligible candidates must be first-time attendees from underrepresented cultural backgrounds, committed to advancing ceramic art.

The fellowships support participation in the 59th annual NCECA conference in Salt Lake City, March 26–29, 2025. Recipients will be notified in November 2024. Current NCECA members are encouraged to invite eligible candidates who can contribute value to the field and the organization.

The Poetry of Bones is an International Photography Exhibition focusing on the theme of “Autumn”. The turning of the year centers on many different religions, cultures, celebrations, memorials, and tributes. These transition months lead us deep into the heart of winter. The Colonel Eugene E. Myers Art Gallery, located in the Department of Art & Design at the University of North Dakota welcomes your submission for our group exhibition, juried by international curator, photographer, photography theorist, philosopher of art, and educator, Zsolt Bátori. Show us your interpretation of this universal theme and what it means to you. All examples and styles of photography that fit this theme are encouraged to apply. Karen van Hoey Smith

Karen is an Artist Director and Fine Art Auctioneer with a Degree in Fine Art Evaluation, previously working as gallerist for over 15 years. In addition to this was she was also a partner of a leading UK art publishing house. With a successful history in face-to-face selling working as an Art Broker, having sold pieces for the likes of Banksy, Karen found that she was representing and helping Artists on a regular basis achieve more sales and reaching

their goals. She is now the lead Artists Mentor at the VAA, leading professional development of artists.

Louise Minnaar

Based in South Africa & UK; Louise followed her passion for art early on, attending Art School for 4 years and going on to achieve a degree in education. Louise brings over 10 years’ experience in the art industry, from art auctions all over the world to working with one of the largest publishers in the UK with Whitewall Galleries. Louise has helped clients from all walks of life get happily involved in collecting artwork, from not only the likes of Picasso and Miro, but also exciting up-and-comers at all stages in their art careers. Louise has attended Art Sales Academies with a number of leading galleries.

NCECA is pleased to announce the 21st annual NCECA Graduate Student Fellowships. The purpose of this fellowship is to foster and catalyze graduate students’ capacities to expand awareness and deepen knowledge in the ceramic arts through learning, intellectual inquiry, and creative research.

The applicant must make a project proposal for use of the $2,000.00 award (may not be used for tuition), and must submit additional materials as specified in the Application Process. A maximum of three awards in the amount of $2,000 each will be made, of which $1,000 (half the total amount) will be mailed upon return of the signed agreement. The Fellowship recipients will be notified of the selection in November 2024 and publicly announced through NCECA E-News, social media platforms, and conference publications. The balance of $1,000 will be sent following completion of a project report with images once it has been reviewed and approved. Final fellowship reports are due by December 31, 2025.
RECOMMENDATIONS
To complete your application, NCECA must receive your two letters of recommendation by September 19, 2024 (11:59pm Eastern). Please inform your recommenders of this deadline in advance. It is the applicant's responsibility to inform their recommenders about the deadline and to ask for the letters of recommendation. NCECA will not contact recommenders directly.

The Wassaic Project is currently holding our annual Open Call for our 2025 Summer Exhibition for artists of all mediums, including: 2D work, sculpture, video, new media, site-specific installation, performance, text, poems, essays, publication-specific work, etc. If selected, your work will be showcased alongside a diverse range of pieces and performances in and around historic Wassaic and Maxon Mills. The Wassaic Project's 2025 Summer Exhibition will be free and open to the public every weekend from May 17 - September 13, 2025. In an effort to be more W.A.G.E. certified, all accepted artists will receive a modest honorarium to participate in the exhibition. Artists interested in creating a site-specific installation for the 2025 Summer Exhibition are also eligible for an Exhibitions Fellowship to help realize their work. Fellows will be offered a no-fee residency for 1 - 4 weeks in April or May 2025. Artists interested in making site-specific work for the exhibition should still apply regardless of whether or not they are interested in or able to be in residence in April or May. REVIEW PROCESS
Applicants are evaluated by our Co-Directors — Eve, Bowie, and Jeff — and our Residency Director, Will. Artists are selected based on the quality of the work and how well a given piece fits alongside other pieces selected for the show.
Don’t overthink this — there’s no one thing we’re looking for, and we’re always open to creative new uses of Maxon Mills as an exhibition space.

PROJECT PROPOSALS
We accept four types of proposals for our 2024 Summer Programming: ready-to-hang work, site-specific installations, temporary installations/performances, and publication-specific works. Your application can include multiple proposals.
For all proposals, include:
A formal description of the work you would like to show.
A three-sentence conceptual description of the work you would like to show or your artistic practice more generally.
A note about any special circumstances you anticipate around the installation of your work. We have limited equipment available, so we need to know in advance if you require anything specific.

No separate application is needed for the Exhibitions Fellowship, and acceptance of the fellowship — should it be offered — is entirely optional. Artists from all countries are welcome to submit their works for consideration. You are welcome to submit works in any medium. (painting, photography, printmaking, video art, installation, films, sculpting, mixed media, poems, illustration, etc). The theme of the exhibition is OPEN.

2025 Call for Partner Institutions
​In preparation for the 150th Anniversary of the historic Atelier 11 Cité Falguière, L’AiR Arts is inviting cultural, academic and arts institutions worldwide to become partners in this unique living heritage initiative by creating art residency opportunities for their candidates in Paris.

Established in 1875, Atelier 11 stands as the last surviving studio of the world’s longest-running international artists’ residency still in operation. Once a thriving L'École de Paris hub boasting home-ateliers of Gauguin, Foujita, Modigliani, Brancusi and Soutine, it hosted hundreds of French and international artists throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Recently recognized as a heritage site, Atelier 11 is scheduled to undergo rehabilitation to continue welcoming artists and cultural professionals as an International Arts Research Residency.

To celebrate the inclusive history of the École de Paris and to foster intercultural exchange, L’AiR Arts launches a global call for partner institutions interested in offering art residency opportunities for their candidates at Atelier 11 in Paris. Residents must receive support from one or more cultural partners who assume responsibility for covering the costs associated with the residency. ​

RESIDENT PROFILE
Atelier 11 residency program is designed for artists and cultural professionals of all ages, from all countries and all creative disciplines who wish to develop their artistic research and/or project in Paris.

TERMS OF RESIDENCE
Partner institution(s) help to offset the costs of upkeep and preservation of the historic Atelier 11 residency, while also creating a nurturing and productive environment for the residents. Atelier 11 residency offers two individual furnished living studios, communal work and exhibition space, research library and a meeting room with a fully equipped kitchen. The residency also provides programming, communications and event support based on individual project needs. In addition to contributing towards the residency program, partner institution(s) cover the cost of return travel and provide the resident with a living allowance; they also ensure that the resident has a visa and insurance covering medical expenses and civil liability for the duration of the residency.

This living heritage project has been initiated by the L'AiR Arts and Cité Falguière Associations with the vision of establishing an International Arts Research Residency dedicated to the intercultural artistic exchange as the legacy of the École de Paris.

Built by artists for artists in the 1860s, Atelier 11 is the last preserved atelier of the historical artists community of Cité Falguière in Paris. During its 150+ years of artistic history, the Cité Falguière served as a working and living place to more than a hundred French and international artists. Once home to Amedeo Modigliani, Tsuguharu Foujita, Constantin Brancusi, Chaïm Soutine, and Paul Gauguin, it was built with connecting staircases and footbridges to foster connections among artists. Artists of Cité Falguière from different cultural and social backgrounds, such as Chaïm Soutine and Amedeo Modigliani, often shared the same atelier space that brought them closer together and provided the opportunity for exchange, encouragement and inspirations.

ELIGIBILITY
This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work that has been selected for previous exhibits with Art Fluent will not be considered.

RULES
Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. Open to ALL fine art mediums (oil, acrylic, watermedia, pastel, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, sculpture, fiber, wood, ceramics, film/video, digital art). AI will not be accepted. Diptychs and triptychs should be uploaded as a single image.

SELECTION PROCESS
Director’s choice. Each show is curated and juried by Creative Director, Amy Matteson Neill along with an anonymous committee of jurors. Please note, there is no personal feedback given by jurors.

ENTRY PROCEDURE
Entry is done through CaFÉ, a web-based service that allows artists to upload images and organize their artwork for submissions to galleries. To apply for a call, you must leave our website and go to the CaFÉ website at www.callforentry.org where you can create a FREE artist account. You will add your details and upload your images to CaFÉ and then you can submit work to STAND 2024. MEDIA PREPARATION
Please only submit properly cropped images of your work that are in focus. We have a free resource for artists for tips on how to get high quality images of your work. All images must be in JPEG/JPG format using CaFÉ guidelines. The image size must be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side. Maximum file size is 5 mb.
Accepted video formats include MOV, MP4, WMV. Aspect ratio 4:3 or 16:9, resolution minimum 640x480, maximum 1920 x1080, bit rate recommended above 240 kbps, recommended frame rate 30 fps. File size must be under 100 MB. If your video work has been selected for the exhibit, we kindly request that you provide us with the file link via Vimeo. Please ensure the linked video is set to be shared publicly. Your video will not play if it is set to private.

NOTIFICATION
Notification will be done by email, everyone who submits will be notified of the juror’s selections. If for any reason you do not hear from us by the notification date, please check the filters in your email account. Notification emails are sent to the email on file with CaFÉ.

SALES
All sales inquiries will be directed to the artist’s website and/or contact information. For any artwork that is sold, the artists receive 100% of the sale.

GIVING BACK
A portion of the proceeds from the entry fees is donated to organizations committed to the arts and supporting artists.

REQUIRED FORMS
Cash awards over $600 are subject to federal income tax withholding within the United States. A W-9 form must be filled out by the winner and submitted to Art Fluent, Inc.

Each year, Cherry Street Pier welcomes a new cohort of artists and organizations to be part of our artist-in-residence program, which seeks to foster a unique space for emerging and established artists to collaborate, create, and show off their work.

The Pier seeks artists who reflect Philadelphia’s diverse, as well as traditionally under- represented populations; offer a broad range of artistic disciplines; are poised to benefit creatively and professionally from this creative community; and are eager to be a part of a collaborative, community-focused initiative.

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
McColl Center's Artist-in-Residence Program is an internationally acclaimed program that serves as a catalyst for artistic growth for emerging and mid-career artists. We host three residency terms per year:

Fall - August-November
Winter/Spring - January-May
Summer - June-August
Artists-in-Residence receive private housing adjacent to McColl Center, a large-scale private studio in our historic building in Uptown Charlotte, curatorial guidance, marketing and PR support, and a generous stipend. While in residency, our artists have the freedom to fully focus on artistic research, exploration, and creation while also engaging with McColl Center’s Igniters community and the local creative sector. While in residence, artists also have access to our shared labs and studios including:

Ceramics + Sculpture Studio
Darkroom
Media Lab with a large-scale printer
Woodshop

Summer Artist-in-Residence Program is offered to parents and educators who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in McColl Center residency because of their responsibilities during school/university periods. This residency will support their practices, give you the chance to bring your family with you, use the facilities, and equipment offered by the Center on our Labs. Artists may work in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, written or spoken word, or interdisciplinary practices.

Residency Dates: June 3 - August 11, 2025.

Artists-in-Residence participate in a group exhibition and lead one to two community engagements centered around their practice.

The Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University offers a five-month residency (January through May 2025) in the Art Department, which is composed of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Ceramics, Fibers and Material Studies, Glass, Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. The residency will be awarded to an artist whose work is primarily focused on the history and lived experience of North American federally recognized tribal citizens and who exemplifies the art and activism of the artist Edgar Heap of Birds in bringing attention to the lives, struggles and triumphs of Native Americans. The artist in residence will have the opportunity to mentor and advise Tyler students. The residency will culminate in an exhibition to be held in the Edgar Heap of Birds Family Gallery in Temple Contemporary, Tyler’s center for exhibitions and public programs.

The residency will provide an opportunity for an artist to expand their personal practice while offering access to Tyler’s state-of-the art studio facilities. Tyler’s programs encompass a wide range of areas in the study of art, design, art history, art education and architecture. In each program, students benefit from a rigorous curriculum and a large, diverse campus community.

Residency includes:
• Individual studio
• 24-hour access to shared studio facilities and equipment
• $1,500 materials budget
• Opportunity to teach, mentor, and/or advise students
• Participation in a solo exhibition
• Stipend of $3,500 per month

The figure has long held a fascination as a subject matter worthy of depiction for generations of artist. The figure has the ability to inspire within us a very basic awe and wonder. The figure is full of possibilities for artists. This class is about Experimentation and Innovation.
In this workshop, students will be challenged to look for what could be, instead of seeing what is. We will embark on a journey filled with exploration and discovery as we search for the magical balance between the two. The search will continue in order to find the right line, tone, smudge, color, texture and shape, resulting in a collection of marks that reveal and celebrate the process. Our working surfaces will be considered arenas of struggle where desire, chance, skill, ideas, media and surface will all be engaged in this process.

About David Limrite
David Limrite was born in Salinas, California. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University. Yet, feeling as though had not placed enough emphasis on the techniques of drawing, he entered Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Through his studies there, he acquired and developed the essence of his figurative work.
Limrite’s current work continues an investigation of the struggle for understanding and ultimate acceptance of complex emotional issues. Using primarily graphite, charcoal, acrylic and collage, his work combines virtuoso drawing with cathartic expressionism. Limrite uses emotional content to give his figures power and intensity, underscoring their emotion through passionate handling of materials which animates the figures and suggests energy between the forms.
