And, Artwork Archive is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

Artwork Archive was inspired by a crashed hard drive and historic flood.

Co-founder John created Artwork Archive for his mother, an oil painter. When her hard drive crashed she lost years of valuable information about her art career. All of the art management solutions at the time were vulnerable and limiting, so John set out to create the first cloud-based system to fit all the needs of a modern day artist.

Artwork Archive soon expanded to serve collectors and organizations after co-founder and collector Justin’s basement flooded. The flood damaged Justin’s artworks and left him scrambling to find receipts and documentation for his works. When he looked for a collection management solution to prepare for future unknowns, he could only find overly complex, overpriced and antiquated solutions.

John and Justin worked together to create a collection management solution focused on accessibility with an intention of disrupting the market. The platform is now used by artists, collectors and organizations in over 130 countries
