The Denver Architecture Foundation (DAF) and the Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) are pleased to announce Y/OUR Denver 2024 Photo Competition: Denver Through Time.

Photographers of all skill levels are invited to submit new or older images of architectural spaces in Denver for this juried competition. Show us your images of Denver Through Time! All forms of architectural imagery are welcome: black & white, color, exterior, interiors, landscape architecture, and detail images. Thirty images will be showcased in an online exhibition on the DAF and CPAC websites. The five award winning images will be printed and displayed at Colorado Photographic Arts Center during the opening evening of Doors Open Denver on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

The Royal Society of Marine Artists seeks submissions of art inspired by the sea and marine environment, including harbours and shorelines, traditional craft and contemporary shipping, creeks, beaches, wildlife - in short anything that involves tidal water.

The RSMA Annual Exhibition is widely recognised as a showcase for the best in contemporary marine art, with selected work from the open entry hung alongside the work of members.

Art Fair | Detroit is a three-day event showcasing contemporary affordable works ranging from emerging to mid-career artists, making it accessible to the general public.

The event is a celebration of art, culture, and community, offering diverse programming designed to enrich and inspire. We have provided no specific prompts or themes for the Art Fair, allowing each artist to approach it in their own way and connect to art buyers directly. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating contemporary art throughout various locations in Detroit. Experience a vibrant array of exhibitions, installations, performances, music, and engaging conversations.

We are accepting applications from independent curators and artists to curate their own 10 x 10 sq foot wall or floor space exhibition. 1-3 artists can be included per application for each 10 x 10 sq foot space. The exhibitions will take place in unique locations across the city of Detroit, including industrial spaces, vacant storefronts, and former factories. There is no fee to submit an application, but applicants whose proposals are selected are required to pay a participation fee of $100 per application (Independent Curator or Individual Artist).

Applicants are not restricted by location, but they will be responsible for the delivery of their artworks to and from the exhibition. Applicants are welcome to submit multiple distinct applications but they will be considered separately.

The Adobe Creative Residency at the V&A is a new, fresh approach to bring making into the museum. This programme will enable the museum to employ three full-time residents, five days a week for 12 months. Each resident will work with a designated audience to bring creativity, design and making to diverse audiences. Embedded within the V&A learning team, residents will commit half their time to developing engaging programming across the V&A sites around their craft, this will include V&A South Kensington, Young V&A, and V&A East. New residents will play a key role in the expansion of the V&A's public programming efforts. Residents will also work with local communities across the UK to create a new model of programming outside the museum to build and sustain links with underserved communities. Additionally, each resident will receive studio space, mentorship, resources, access to the museum's resources and staff expertise. Their work will be featured in a six-month display at the close of their residency.

All our residents are audience-focused. We aim for you to draw from our collections to inspire careers in the creative industries as well as future design and artistic practice. You will be expected to work actively with visitors through educational activities, as well as develop your personal practice. Each open call will identify a core audience that we’re keen for you to work with: schools, families or young people. You can see the extent of the V&A's Learning Programmes on our website. Residents will be expected to commit half their time to developing engaging programming around their craft across the V&A sites with the V&A learning team.

Residents are also required to open their studio to the public or show their work in progress to visitors in the galleries through open studio events. If you don't enjoy working with the public and are not comfortable sharing your work in progress, then this residency programme is probably not for you. However, many of our alumni comment about the value of this experience, encouraging them to become more confident and articulate in describing their work and sharing ideas with a variety of audiences.

Seeking 20 artists to paint life-sized mermaid statues in Hernando County!

Florida’s Adventure Coast Visitors Bureau, Brooksville Main Street, and the Hernando County Fine Arts Council are excited to invite artists to submit their designs for the second round of the Mermaid Tale Trail!

Finished statues will be unveiled in November 2024 before being placed at parks and points of interest around Hernando County. There are currently 27 mermaid statues installed on the Mermaid Tale Trail.

Mermaid designs must be submitted on 11” x 17” sheets. The enclosed/attached sheets show the front and back views of the statue. Each artist will submit no more than 3 design specs. Each design must be on separate 11” x 17” sheets. Write your name and mermaid’s name on each submission, along with the words TT 20224. Additional 11”x 17” sheets are available by email.
With each design, include a written description of your mermaid and her name.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces an art call for the gallery’s 14th Annual “Landscapes” Online Juried Art Competition for possible inclusion in the Gallery’s August 2024 online group art exhibition.

Master the art of capturing ethereal fog with precise brushwork and water control in our immersive landscape watercolor painting workshop! Join us as we paint a tranquil dawn scene with mist gently rising from a serene lake. Begin by honing your skills in monochrome, focusing on brushwork and water control to create soft, dreamy edges. Then, delve into a world of color as you translate the same scene into a vibrant masterpiece. Gain hands-on experience in reserving light areas and mastering water control to infuse your artwork with the captivating allure of soft foggy edges.

The theme, WILD, invites artists to imagine and tackle that which can’t be tamed. In medium and subject, evoke the freedom found within the wild. Both realism and abstract art will be considered. Our gallery features contemporary art and the concept is considered in judging.

All accepted entries will be featured in a printed publication by the gallery and blog. Awarded artists will receive more space for interviews. All entries will have their name listed in our printed publication.

Location: All artists residing in the USA are eligible to participate. This group show is located at Overt Space Gallery in Stoughton, WI. Artwork will need to be shipped to the gallery before the exhibition. Artwork will also be available on our website. Artists do not need to be present for the show.

The City of Santa Clarita (City) is inviting artists to submit artwork for consideration for our upcoming “Nature’s Palette” juried exhibition, which will be on view at the First Floor Gallery located in Santa Clarita City Hall. We are seeking original artwork in any medium that captures the essence of the natural world around us. Artwork should highlight the intricate hues, textures, and forms that define our planets landscapes and ecosystems.

This 5-Day retreat led by 2 inimitable instructors in a gorgeous retreat on the Central Coast in California, will immerse you in an exploration of art as artifact. Art has always been a means by which people leave behind traces of their existence. Whether it's a cave painting from thousands of years ago or a modern masterpiece, art serves as an artifact that represents a specific time, place, and culture. In this workshop, you will do the same by employing visual elements, photographs, or mementos that hold personal meaning or memory for you. There will be daily presentations, demonstrations, dedicated work time, and one one-on-one, guidance. Discussions will include record-keeping, storytelling, and creating a narrative in one's work. This is an exciting opportunity to propel your work into a new direction or to deepen your inquiry into your art practice.

Some of the topics explored in the workshop:
Systems of organization, such as record-keeping, mapping or counting
Surfaces and textures that are worn and suggest a sense of age
Dualities or juxtapositions of ancient vs. contemporary
Conveying history or a sense of time in your work
Pentimento, leaving visible traces of your process
Personal or collective histories
Cultural artifacts - real or imagined

By examining the materials, techniques, and the concept of art as artifact within our artwork, we can gain valuable insights into our artistic development. Analyzing our artwork can also help us identify patterns or changes in our creative journey, allowing us to track our growth and evolution over time. This class is open to artists at any level and the focus is on finding each individual’s unique voice.

Your instructors are Lisa Pressman and Susan Stover. Lisa Pressman is a highly respected art educator with a vigorous teaching program. Susan Stover received an MFA from the California College of Art in Oakland, California, and a BFA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Applications are open for the second cycle of The Young Climate Prize award and mentorship programme. The prize was conceived by New York-based non-profit organisation The World Around to support the generation of designers and activists who were born into the climate crisis and uniquely positioned to address it.

The selected 25 individuals under 25 years of age will be paired and mentored by a Design Champion, a group of world renown architects, urbanists and designers. Each mentee will have at least three hour-long sessions with their mentor to amplify their projects, come up with new ideas and get inspiration from a caring professional. In addition to the 1:1 mentorships, the cohort will also embark on a ‘Design Academy’, between September and December 2024. Every weekend, The World Around Young Climate Prize will hold virtual workshops to provide support on everything, from marketing and fundraising to graphic design, communications and filmmaking.

Anyone aged 13 to 25 can submit their work. Applications and the programme are free for all and three winners –Young Climate Designer, Young Climate Voice and Young Climate Visionary – will be selected by a jury to present their work at The World Around’s annual summit in April 2025 in New York City, USA.

We encourage young people from anywhere in the world to share their projects. If English is not your first language you will be able to indicate this during the application process.

About artworks:
The Award is open to all printmaking disciplines, admitting digital printed artwork and monotype as well.
The general theme is The Sea and the Lighthouses, but this does not imply that the artwork must be figurative. All kinds of aesthetic languages are admitted.
The image and the paper must not exceed 20 x 20 cm. (7,8” x 7,8”)
There is no minimum image or paper size.

Jury and awarding process:

The Exploration Residences are part of a professional program that assists residents with the research resources and local contacts necessary for their specific projects. Participants receive reviews of their projects by specialized professionals and enrich themselves with the vision of the ´ace team, as well as colleagues-in-residence, during our frequent “Brainstorming” meetings. For their part, SUB30 residents also receive academic tutoring and critiques.

These residencies are aimed to professional and emerging artists/performers, that come from any discipline within the Visual Arts, who can work independently in a visual, sound or performance research. Curators or art historians who want to have a space for reflection and take advantage of our expertises and library (specialized in photography, print and digital media) to research, study or write, while being immersed in an extraordinary and challenging cultural environment.

The Exploration Residences provides 4 weeks artistic “time out” emphasizing the process over the presentation of the results. This format encourages residents to get inspiration from the new experiences achieved through the interaction with other residents and the rich cultural environment that the city of Buenos Aires provides.

Yingge, situated southwest of the Taipei Basin, began its ceramic industry in 1804, leveraging its abundant clay and minerals. Over two centuries, it has grown into Taiwan's foremost ceramic city, boasting a rich heritage of ceramic culture and technology. Since 2010, the Yingge Ceramics Museum has spearheaded the Taiwan Ceramics Residency Program to preserve Yingge's cultural legacy and inject fresh energy into the city. Providing artists with space, equipment, and technical support, the program encourages both local and international creators to deeply engage with Yingge, fostering community exchanges and positioning Yingge as a hub for global ceramic art practice.

Limner Gallery in Hudson, NY announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, October 12 - November 4, 2023. Juror: Limner Gallery Director. This is a thematic group exhibition of work that includes and is based on the portrayal, interpretation and/or transformation of the human head. The exhibition is open for entry to all artists working in any media.

You may request to exhibit with another artist. Placement is not guaranteed.

Artists Responsibility
It will be the responsibility of the artist to deliver or ship accepted work to arrive at the gallery no later than the Sunday prior to the exhibit opening night.
Artist will provide a complete listing of titles and sales price of exhibited work no later than 7 days in advance of show.
Artist shall accept the responsibility for providing insurance on artwork and shall hold the city harmless.
At least 90% of the works shown by accepted artist must be available for sale.
Artist will agree to leave work on exhibit until the conclusion of the show, and remove work within one week of the conclusion of the show.

MoonLit Getaway is a new online literary journal that will launch on September 23, 2024. The MoonLit Getaway Grand Opening contest is free to enter and has three categories: flash fiction, poetry, and visual art. All genres are welcome. Winners of each category receive $100 (USD) plus online publication. Two runners-up in each category will receive online publication. The contest intends to collect initial content for the launch of the website, create awareness about MoonLit Getaway, and provide opportunities for writers and artists.

RESIDENCY DESCRIPTION

The Museum of Chinese in America’s Performing-Artist-in-Residence Program will invite a cohort of 5 performing artists to individually generate ONE theme-based new project, by utilizing the resources and collections at MOCA. Throughout the residency, artists will be invited to participate in artist-led workshops and will be required to give 2 work-in-progress presentations to the public, one in December 2024, and the other in February 2025.

PERFORMING-ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Provide space and support for performing artists to generate a new work
Create space for organic artistic sharing and collaboration
Incubate discourse and community engagement around new ideas and artistic expression

Since the 1980s, publications like A. Magazine, Giant Robot, Yolk and Hyphen have attempted to (re)define Asian American identity and to capture diverse lifestyles shared by Asian American communities. What is the narrative that you’ll build if given the editorial power of a publication (think beyond print and more performing arts)? What lifestyle or culture would you try to capture? In the age of digital, tribalized society, what is it about you that you’d want to represent/create?

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all Performing Artists
Disciplines include but not limited to dance, music, theatre, performance art, spoken words and film
Artists self-identify as Asian/Chinese American or Asian/Chinese immigrant with a goal of continuing their career in the United States
Artists must be a resident in New York City metropolitan area
Artists must be 25 or over and cannot enroll in any degree program of any kind
Both traditional and contemporary performing arts are welcome
Artists must be available for all the required dates to apply (see program requirements)

TIMELINE

Submissions are due by August 1st, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. EST. All applicants will be notified by mid-September. Residencies will begin in October, 2024.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Selected artists are required to create a new project at MOCA during the agreed upon residency timeframe. The new project does not have to be fully developed at the end of the residency.
Selected artists are required to participate in the workshops and to lead a workshop session on the subject of their choice. Workshop dates are Friday, November 15th, 2024 & Friday, January 17th, 2025.
Selected artists are required to meet at least once per month for a check-in session with the director of performance, storytelling & community during residency.
Selected artists are required to present their work-in-progress project to public twice during residency, one in December 2024 (week of December 9th) and the other in February 2025 (week of February 17th). A talkback session will be scheduled following the presentation.

The Art and Change Grant (ACG) provides grants of up to $2,500 to fund art for social change projects by women, trans*, and/or gender nonconforming artists and cultural producers living in Greater Philadelphia.

The grant is project-based and open to artists and cultural producers working in any medium, including traditional and nontraditional as well as multimedia and experimental forms.

We encourage you to apply if you are a woman, trans*, and/or or gender nonconforming artist who:

Has an art for social change project that impacts a larger group, audience, or community.
Has a project supported by or in collaboration with a Change Partner (a person, organization, or business that is a part of the project in some way).
Lives in Greater Philadelphia: Bucks, Camden, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia County

*Leeway is a trans-affirming organization committed to gender self-determination, and we use the term “trans” in its most inclusive sense, as an umbrella term encompassing transsexual, transgender, genderqueer, Two-Spirit people, and anyone whose gender identity or gender expression is nonconforming and/or different from their gender assigned at birth.

STUDIO APPLICATIONS & SCHOLARSHIPS
OUR STUDIOS - Sarabande studios are more than just a studio space. They are a place of community and collaboration where the unique vision of each artist is supported. Being a part of Sarabande does not only guarantee a heavily subsidised studio space but also communication with leading journalists, curators, collectors, fashion designers, artists and photographers - all eager to know about your creative discipline, vision, and bring you to the forefront of the public eye.

With business mentoring, pro-bono support from expert accountants and lawyers, networking opportunities and with added support in press, marketing, filming and documentation.

The studios range from 50sq. ft to 350sq. ft and are priced at £1 per sq. ft per month. The cost includes all utilities, use of communal spaces & equipment, free professional services, mentoring and access to all events at the foundation.

Lee Alexander McQueen CBE established Sarabande with the ambition to support the most creatively fearless minds of the future. Sarabande looks for individuals with a unique vision and a dedication to their craft. To date, Sarabande has nurtured over 250 artists and designers, each with unique approaches, disciplines and backgrounds.

Our buildings are home to a diverse array of artisans, reflecting the wide range of talents Lee worked with in his own collections. Our artists include sculptors, fashion designers, jewellers, textile designers, painters, performance artists, silversmiths and ceramicists. Additionally, Sarabande houses filmmakers, animators, photographers, digital designers and visual artists.

Sarabande awards scholarships to students studying the MA & BA Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins and the MFA at Slade School of Fine Art. Students are shortlisted by the University for interview by the Sarabande panel, led by an industry professional. To date, these have included Sarabande Patrons Nick Knight OBE, Andrew Bolton and Shaun Leane as well as Marina Abramović, Iris van Herpen, Sarah Burton OBE, Jake Chapman, Matthew Slotover and Katy England.

We are unlikely to accept applications from non-UK residents who do not have a UK address/the right to work in the UK. We do not sponsor visas.

Fusion Art invites submissions for the 9th Annual Waterscapes art competition for an online exhibition during the month of August 2024.

For this competition, both 2D and 3D artists, worldwide, are invited to submit their best art depicting waterscapes.

The theme includes any art which depicts any type of body of water including the ocean, lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, coastal living, any ocean activities, seaside vistas, beaches, and any related seashore or lakeside subjects. It can also include rain, puddles and frozen waterscapes.

All artists, regardless of location or experience, are encouraged to submit their best representational and/or abstract art in any medium.

The Nordic Culture Fund’s Globus FORWARD programme supports artistic and cultural collaborations that operate in wide transnational settings and that are ready for further development.

Globus FORWARD aims at strengthening the long-term capacities of existing collaborations that have already progressed from their initial phases and express an articulated need and motivation/readiness to develop their way of working in a long-term perspective.

Applicants can be a network, artistic collective, platform or other collaborative constellation whose core operations take place in wider transnational settings, connecting practitioners from the Nordics and other parts of the world.

The grant can cover targeted/specific activities within the chosen areas (e.g. consultations, material costs, expert sessions, etc.). The activities can also be completely or partly integrated into the grantee’s own general operations and artistic practice/method, provided it is clearly demonstrated how this contributes to the development of the collaboration/organisations within the selected core areas.

There is no requirement for co-financing of the Globus FORWARD grant. However, in general the grant period should l aim for stronger economic independence and sustainability after the grant period. The maximum grant amount is DKK 500,000 and the maximum grant period is 2 years (finalised by the end of 2026). The Fund can grant up to 5-8 initiatives in 2024.

The programme is open to previous Globus grantees (Globus Call and Globus Opstart/Globus Opstart+) as well as new applicants. If you are a new applicant/have not received Globus-funding before, we recommend that you submit a pre-application to check your eligibility before preparing a full application. The pre-application will be open from 20 June until 1 August, and you will hear from us by 10 August.

Film & Video

Filmmakers

Submit both a preview work sample and a full-length sample of the same work. For the preview, offer a two-minute continuous excerpt of your work. Screenwriters

Submit two writing samples of your screenplay. One longer sample of no more than 10,000 words or 30 pages and a second two-page excerpt of the same work. Optional: May include a brief synopsis if necessary.

Located in the historic Old Market, Omaha’s arts and culture district, Bemis Center's 110,000 square foot facility accommodates a broad range of artistic activity. Selected artists-in-residence enjoy generous sized, private live/work studios complete with kitchen and bathroom, a $1,250 USD monthly stipend and $750 travel stipend. Due to the limitations of B2 visas (touring/visiting), international artists-in-residence are eligible to receive reimbursement of qualified expenses, such as airfare, ground transportation, and meals. Selected artists are responsible for organizing travel to Omaha to attend the residency. Artists-in-residence have 24-hour access to extensive installation and production spaces and the Okada Sculpture & Ceramics Facility, a 9,000 square foot industrial space used for large-scale sculpture fabrication; and a Sound Studio for rehearsing and recording. This is an independently-driven, process-based residency in a communal environment, fostering creative growth, experimentation, and supportive exchange. There are no expectations placed on residents to create or promise of an exhibition in our first-floor galleries. Artists who are interested in applying to any 2025 open call opportunity (Jan–April, May–August, or September–November) will be required to submit a separate application and application fee for each designated session. We offer residencies to professional creative artists from all nations and backgrounds working in one or more of the following disciplines: choreography, film, literature, musical composition, painting, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video. Artists apply individually. Peer review is the keystone of our selection process, with different panelists each season. Residencies last from two weeks to two months and include room, board and a studio. There is no fee to come to Yaddo, and we have modest access grants to help offset the costs of attending a residency.

All artists whose work falls within the five disciplines we serve are encouraged to apply. Generally, those who qualify for Yaddo residencies are either working at the professional level in their fields or are emerging artists whose work shows great professional promise. An abiding principle at Yaddo is that applications for residency are judged solely on the quality of the work. Yaddo places no publication, exhibition or performance requirements on artists in residence.

Penland’s Winter Residency program is a short-term residency opportunity for artists seeking to work independently in one of our 16 media specific studios during Penland’s quiet season. Practicing artists of all backgrounds and at any stage of their career are encouraged to apply for a 2-week or 4-week session. Shared studio access is provided to a small number of artists each session; we invite enough people to encourage conversation and creative camaraderie, but not so many that focused time in the studio is compromised. Residents’ time is their own; there are no workshops, critiques, or required activities. Our goal is to support creative experimentation by offering artists the time, space, and equipment they need to advance professional development.

Penland Winter Residencies are for:

Artists needing access to facilities for research and development that can be supported by Penland’s well-equipped studios
Art educators and administrators who are seeking focused studio time during a winter break or sabbatical
Collaborating artists who want to work on a specific project or simply alongside one another in order to share technical expertise and/or creative inspiration
Art professionals who need time away from daily responsibilities and distractions to focus on a creative project

The request is for a large-scale, three-dimensional work that is able to command the space and make a bold “welcome” statement to guests visiting the garden in order to pay their respects to the chimps who have passed away.
