The theme, WILD, invites artists to imagine and tackle that which can’t be tamed. In medium and subject, evoke the freedom found within the wild. Both realism and abstract art will be considered. Our gallery features contemporary art and the concept is considered in judging.

All accepted entries will be featured in a printed publication by the gallery and blog. Awarded artists will receive more space for interviews. All entries will have their name listed in our printed publication.

Location: All artists residing in the USA are eligible to participate. This group show is located at Overt Space Gallery in Stoughton, WI. Artwork will need to be shipped to the gallery before the exhibition. Artwork will also be available on our website. Artists do not need to be present for the show.

Artists Responsibility
It will be the responsibility of the artist to deliver or ship accepted work to arrive at the gallery no later than the Sunday prior to the exhibit opening night.
Artist will provide a complete listing of titles and sales price of exhibited work no later than 7 days in advance of show.
Artist shall accept the responsibility for providing insurance on artwork and shall hold the city harmless.
At least 90% of the works shown by accepted artist must be available for sale.
Artist will agree to leave work on exhibit until the conclusion of the show, and remove work within one week of the conclusion of the show.

Located in the historic Old Market, Omaha’s arts and culture district, Bemis Center's 110,000 square foot facility accommodates a broad range of artistic activity. Selected artists-in-residence enjoy generous sized, private live/work studios complete with kitchen and bathroom, a $1,250 USD monthly stipend and $750 travel stipend. Due to the limitations of B2 visas (touring/visiting), international artists-in-residence are eligible to receive reimbursement of qualified expenses, such as airfare, ground transportation, and meals. Selected artists are responsible for organizing travel to Omaha to attend the residency. Artists-in-residence have 24-hour access to extensive installation and production spaces and the Okada Sculpture & Ceramics Facility, a 9,000 square foot industrial space used for large-scale sculpture fabrication; and a Sound Studio for rehearsing and recording. This is an independently-driven, process-based residency in a communal environment, fostering creative growth, experimentation, and supportive exchange. There are no expectations placed on residents to create or promise of an exhibition in our first-floor galleries. Artists who are interested in applying to any 2025 open call opportunity (Jan–April, May–August, or September–November) will be required to submit a separate application and application fee for each designated session. Up to three submissions per artist will be accepted.

DELIVERY OF SELECTED WORK: All artists are asked to deliver their work Tuesday, September 3, 2024, through Friday, September 6, 2024, between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM or Saturday, September 7, 2024, between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM unless other arrangements are made with the SullivanMunce Cultural Center. All artists must sign a loan agreement upon the delivery of their work to the gallery.

Artists who ship their work must print a copy of the Loan Agreement (it will be emailed to the artists upon request), sign it and email it back or send it along with their shipped work.

It is the responsibility of the artist to transport and insure (if desired) works in transit to and from the Gallery. Shipped work must be packed in reusable containers to be returned by post, clear shipping instructions must be included, as well as shipping labels, FedEx, or UPS prepaid labels, or prepaid USPS postage. Artists must sign the Loan Agreement upon delivery of their work to the gallery.

PICK UP ART: Tuesday, October 29, 2024 - Friday, November 1, 2024 between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. or Saturday, November 2, 2024 between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM unless other arrangements are made with the SullivanMunce Cultural Center.

The Dayton Society of Artists (DSA) is pleased to present MIDWEST AMERICANA, a regional call for lens-based artwork. All artists, 18 years or older and living or working in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky are eligible for entry. Each piece must be lens-based (including but not limited to photography, computer edited photos, video, etc.) but may have other mediums or techniques incorporated into the work. Traditional and non-traditional approaches are welcome, and the medium may be interpreted broadly. Art should fit into the theme, Midwest Americana. ABOUT

Dayton Society of Artists: The DSA is a non-profit, member-based organization. It was founded in 1938 and acquired a Victorian house in the 1960s, which was converted into a gallery. The DSA’s mission is to “connect, support, and educate artists and the community.” The DSA hosts various workshops and events throughout the year to fulfill its mission as well as hosts a variety of exhibitions. Tripod Camera Club: Tripod Camera Club is a non-profit organization located in Dayton, Ohio. It is designed for any individual - amateur or professional - that has an interest in photography. Membership is intended for local residents of the greater Dayton and Cincinnati areas. The club was organized in the early 1940's as a successor to a local NCR camera club. Today, we have approximately 90 members and many of our members are among the finest photographers and print makers in the area.

FotoFocus Biennial: The 2024 FotoFocus Biennial, now in its seventh iteration, activates over 100 projects at museums, galleries, universities, and public spaces throughout Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Columbus, Ohio in October 2024. Each Biennial is structured around a unifying theme; for 2024 that theme, backstories, focuses on stories that are not evident at first glance. These stories offer context for what happened previously or out of view, providing narratives not yet told or presented from a new perspective.

FotoFocus welcomes global artists, curators, critics, educators, and regional visitors to Cincinnati with exhibitions, talks, performances, screenings, and panel discussions during an expanded week of programming September 26–28, 2024.

JUROR

Francis Schanberger received his Master of Fine Arts from the Ohio State University in 2002. He has been an artist in residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts (2005), Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts (2011) and Vermont Studio Center in 2013. He has exhibited at Soho Photo in New York, the Houston Center for Photography, the Free University of Brussels, as well as COHJU Gallery in Kyoto, Japan.

Midwest Americana: The DSA, along with local photography club, Tripod Camera Club will be holding an open call for work with the theme Midwest Americana.

The American Midwest, a vast area ranging from Ohio to the Dakotas, is a region distinct from the rest of the United States. In a broad sense, the American Midwest is known for cornfields, state fairs, factory towns, and humble values. Too often, it is a region defined by what it lacks. Largely due to its geography—vast plains and lack of coastline and mountains—it is often dismissed as “flyover country.” However, the Midwest has a rich culture all its own. As a broad area of America, its large cities, small towns, and rural areas differ from the Southern states, the Eastern New England states, and the West in certain definable ways. It is an area with a distinctive culture, history, architecture, and industry. Beyond the stereotypical broad view, a closer look reveals that, though the Midwest has a certain cultural flavor, within that culture, much variety exists. This photographic exhibition seeks to explore the forgotten history of Midwest Americana. It includes, but goes beyond, a romantic view of rural farm life, small towns, and industry. It considers the realties of urban blight, poverty, and inequality while also celebrating the cultural and artistic diversity and accomplishments of this region through its cities, small towns, industry, rural areas, and people.

ENTRY FEES

• $20 for the first image and $5/each additional image for up to 5 images total. (1 image: $20, 2 images: $25, 3 images: 30, 4 images: $35, 5 images: $40)

REQUIREMENTS

• Artists must be 18 years of age or older and live and/or work in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky.
• Art must be professionally presented and ready to hang with wiring on the back, be displayed on a pedestal (maximum footprint of 15” x 20”) or sit on the floor. High Street Gallery uses a hook and rod system due to their plaster and lathe walls. For details visit: daytondsa.org/exhibitors. DSA is open to innovative installation solutions, but they must be pre-approved.
• 2D Art must not be larger than 48” wide x 60” tall or more than 30 pounds.
• DSA has two flat screen TVs and one projector for use. Any digital submissions must provide all additional hardware and software.
• Artwork must not have been exhibited before at the Dayton Society of Artists.
• Artwork may not be picked up before the close of the show.
• Submit up to five (5) lens-based works. Due to the nature of the theme, there is no restriction as to when the work was created but must be the original work of the submitting artist and professionally presented. Work that does not meet these two requirements is subject to disqualification.
• Object details are required for each work submitted: Title, Date, Medium, Dimensions, Sale price (or insurance price if “Not For Sales”), as well as a brief description of the work. How a work pertains to the theme, location within the Midwest, technique, time period, etc. are some examples of what could be written about in the description of a work.
• All applications submitted will be considered final and treated as such. Applicants will not be permitted to add to or edit an application once it has been submitted. All incomplete or duplicate applications will be immediately disqualified.

ART DELIVERY / RETURN

• Artists must cover the cost to transport artwork to and from the gallery. All work selected for the exhibition must arrive ready to install. Works not gallery-ready, or not exhibiting good craftsmanship, may be omitted from the exhibit. Accepted work that differs significantly from the submitted images, or suffers from poor presentation, will be disqualified. Works must be hand delivered or shipped. Shipped works must be sent in reusable packaging. Works will be returned in the same manner as received or via FEDEX/UPS/USPS. Exhibited work will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. Works not claimed within 30 days of the end of the exhibit will become the property of the DSA.

LIABILITY & SALES

• All work labeled for sale will be displayed and sold in the gallery and on the DSA’s online store.
• Artists maintain responsibility for insuring fine artwork during shipment and/or travel (including U.S. mail delivery) to the DSA. The DSA will acknowledge receipt of work when physically received by appropriate DSA personnel.
• The DSA maintains fine art insurance for work located physically in the DSA gallery.
• Insurance claims where fine artwork has been valued in excess of $500 must be accompanied by documentation of comparable sales price for fine artwork claiming artists and/or a professional third-party appraisal.
• The DSA does not have climate control in the galleries.
• DSA takes NO COMMISSION on sales. Do not include shipping in the price of the piece. After sales are completed, artist is responsible for coordinating with purchaser to deliver/ship work. Artists may use the High Street Gallery as a meeting point. Donations are always appreciated and help support future programming.

AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE

• Submitting the entry form indicates that you agree with the conditions of entry and exhibit as outlined in these guidelines,
and that you agree to make your work available and will ship/deliver it to the gallery should it be selected for exhibit. The
DSA may use submitted images and artwork in print and/or digital marketing materials.

The focus of Bryn Du’s Artist in Residence program is to enhance local awareness and engagement in the arts by introducing new and varied artists to the Granville community throughout the calendar year. Equally important, the Bryn Du Artist in Residence program will provide an inspirational setting for the creation of artistic works by one artist at a time, of any discipline, over an 8 or 12 week time frame. While in residence, the chosen artist will reside in the Cramer House, the renovated laundry building designed for Artists in Residence, behind the Bryn Du Mansion. Artists may be in any stage of their career to apply and participate in a Bryn Du residency.

Residencies at Bryn Du are open nationwide for artists of all disciplines to apply including but not limited to those in the fields of visual arts, literature, music, theatre, fashion, dance, storytelling and audiovisual studies. Residencies are available in the Winter (January-March), Summer (June-August) and Fall (September-November). Upon applying, artists will specify which seasons they may be interested in and if they prefer an 8 or 12 week residency. The application window is open from June 1 through August 31 for residencies in the following calendar year. There is a $15 non-refundable application fee.

All Artists in Residence are expected to provide a minimum of 2 community engagement activities per month which will be agreed upon by Bryn Du and the artist prior to the residency. Examples might include a community poetry reading, performance on the outdoor stage, artist talk or gallery show. Bryn Du is open to lots of ideas and will happily work with accepted artists to determine engagement activities that are enjoyable to the artist, may advance his or her journey, and engage the community.

This is a call for visual artists to apply for a five week virtual artist residency, resulting in solo installations which will transform unconventional film venues throughout the town of Columbia, MO, USA in a celebration of artists, films, music for the True/False Film Fest 2025.

We are looking for emerging and mid-career artists and encourage applications from artists who may identify as underrepresented in the traditional art world (BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and parents/caregivers).

The virtual residency will provide our visual artists a platform for cultural exchange, networking, and creative exploration, allowing artists to connect and collaborate regardless of geographical constraints, culminating in an in-person exhibition of their art installations during the 2025 T/F Film Fest.

The goals of the residency:

Community and connection with the other residents, True/False Art Curation Team, and professional guest artists.
Providing information and opportunities to meet Curators and other professional Artists during the weekly meetings.
Final Exhibition of completed proposed Art Installations at the Fest.
What we offer our residents:

Weekly online sessions which include an artist speaker, professional practice tips, information specifically about T/F Film Fest, and additional individual meetings as part of the virtual Artist Residency.

Established in 2001, the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts (KHN) is a renowned Artist Residency program that supports established and emerging visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists worldwide. Uniquely housed in a residential prairie-style complex in Nebraska City, Nebraska, KHN awards up to seventy residency awards per year and hosts 5 residents at any time. Residency awards are 2-8 weeks in length and include a weekly $175 stipend. In addition, residents receive their own private bedroom, bathroom, and studio.

Founded in 1956, the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts fosters the development and exchange of diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. The Graham realizes this vision through making project-based grants to individuals and organizations and producing exhibitions, events, and publications.

Grantmaking Focus

Architecture and related spatial practices engage a wide range of cultural, social, political, technological, environmental, and aesthetic issues. We are interested in projects that investigate the contemporary condition, expand historical perspectives, or explore the future of architecture and the designed environment.

We support innovative, thought-provoking investigations in architecture; architectural history, theory, and criticism; design; engineering; landscape architecture; urban planning; urban studies; visual arts; and related fields of inquiry. Our interest also extends to work being done in the fine arts, humanities, and sciences that expands the boundaries of thinking about architecture and space. In an effort to bridge communities and different fields of knowledge, we support a wide range of practitioners (such as architects, scholars, critics, writers, artists, curators, and educators) and organizations (such as non-profit galleries, colleges and universities, publishers, and museums).

Open discourse is essential to advance study and understanding, therefore our grantmaking focuses on the public dissemination of ideas. With our support, the work of individuals and organizations reaches new audiences, from specialized to general, and creates opportunities for critical dialogue between various publics.

Priorities and Criteria

For individuals, our priorities are to:

Provide opportunities to create, develop, and communicate a project about architecture and the designed environment that will contribute to their creative, intellectual, and professional growth at crucial or potentially transformative stages in their careers.

Support new voices by giving priority to first-time applicants.

Given our priorities, we believe projects of the greatest potential should fulfill the following criteria:

Originality: the project demonstrates an innovative and challenging idea; critical, independent thinking; advanced scholarship; a new or experimental approach
Potential for impact: the project makes a meaningful contribution to discourse and/or to the field; expands knowledge; is a catalyst for future inquiry; raises awareness of an understudied issue; promotes diversity in subject matter, participants, and audience
Feasibility: the project has clear and realistic goals, timeframe, work plan, and budget
Capacity: applicant possesses strong qualifications and/or knowledge; demonstrates ability to carry out the project successfully; has access to necessary resources outside of the grant request

Stage One/Inquiry Form: Eligible candidates interested in applying for a grant from the Graham Foundation must first submit an Inquiry Form. The Inquiry Form becomes available on our website with each grant cycle and must be submitted online.

Stage Two/Proposal Form: After Inquiry Forms are reviewed, applicants whose projects best match our priorities and interests are invited to submit a Proposal Form and supplementary materials. Applicants who are not invited to submit a Proposal Form are sent a decline notification at this stage. An invitation to submit a Proposal Form does not guarantee eventual funding. Please note that we cannot accept proposals other than those invited.

Award Decision: Funding recommendations are presented to the Board of Trustees for consideration. If a grant is awarded to you, you will be asked to sign a grant agreement that outlines the conditions of the grant, such as annual reporting.

The theme, PRINTMAKING, requires artists to create an image and impose it onto another surface. This centuries-old technique highlights captivating imagery, fine attention to detail, and awe-inspiring effects. Both realism and abstract art will be considered. Our gallery features contemporary art and the concept is considered in judging.

Award Info: Winners(1st-3rd) will split cash prizes ranging from $500-1,000 - depending how many submissions we receive. Honorable mentions for 4th and 5th place.
