From the Artist: Strolling on an upstate New York campus last summer, I thought I saw a figure formed by the cracks in the sidewalk under my feet. I photographed the pavement and later began a series of quilts based on those intriguing cracks. I love the way the cracked line is sustained from block to block as it deteriorates. My contribution was to change the color from utilitarian concrete gray to the vibrant colors of the fiesta.
