From the Artist: Ball Play is one of a series of quilts that I made exploring the way one set of color progressions moves through another when they are of different textures. I have used music as an analogy in all my work and in this case the analogy refers to two instruments playing together. One instrument of slashed fabric the other of flat, pieced fabric. The wall hanging is made of many different fabrics of all sorts with the only criteria for their inclusion being that they fit into a desired progression from dark to light.
