Transmutations of a Diary is a series of twenty works in which Andreina Dávila transforms her personal, handwritten diary into art. Through layered surfaces and mixed techniques, experiences of grief, separation, and reconnection with her roots unfold into a visual language rich in color and organic presence, where words become intimate and powerful graphic elements.
Developed over several years and shaped by journeys and a return to her childhood home in the Venezuelan Andes, the series incorporates collage from Anatomica — a historical survey of human anatomy from the fourteenth through twentieth centuries — to symbolically dissect and reconstruct the self. Each work stands alone while forming part of a larger map of fragmentation, healing, and renewal, like a kintsugi of paper that honors scars as sites of transformation.
