I love creating unusual textures in acrylic and then thinking how they can represent the underwater world. This image of distant soft corals viewed across a sandpatch, is typical of the scenery we encounter diving on the shallow Caribbean reefs. The closer structures have much more colour, since there is less water to drain out the yellow/red colours between them and the viewer. Their rough and ragged appearance shows the stress the are under to survive storm damage, algal competition and warming water, in today's oceans.
Ready to hang with out framing on a box canvas - sides painted aqua.
