The Portal is a place near Phoenicia, NY, where the water from one side of the Catskills comes out of a manmade tunnel cut through the bottom of a mountain and mixes with the water from the other side of the Catskills, in the Esopus Creek [which is really a small river]. A beautiful whirlpool forms there, at its center is a continually breaking wave. Something about the white noise and the energy there is extremely trance inducing, and for me, healing. It's also very powerful, much larger than one's self, which can be unsettling- or uplifting. I started this piece onsite in May of 2020, and finished it in Kansas in February 2021.
