“Ball Shoe in 1700” features an intricate floral and scroll design covering the entire upper portion. The heel is wide and textured, providing a solid base. The design includes a strap across the instep, adding a stylish touch to the overall composition. The style is reminiscent of vintage or antique shoes, combining both functionality and ornamental design.
This piece is inspired by the tradition of prom, a formative milestone symbolizing the transition to adulthood. The inspiration behind this work comes from the timeless tale of Cinderella, specifically the moment she loses her shoe at midnight. By illustrating a ball shoe from different eras dating back to the 1500s, I wanted to highlight the enduring nature of the ball, a true rite of passage marking the transition to adulthood.
