“THE CONFIDENCE”, 1943-1944 SIGNED ORIGINAL LIMITED EDITION LITHOGRAPH BY AMERICAN ARTIST AND PRINTMAKER JOSEPH HIRSCH (1910-1981)
This original limited edition Joseph Hirsch lithograph titled “The Confidence” was published by Associated American Artists (AAA) circa 1943-1944 in an edition of 250. Exhibited at the 3rd National Exhibition of Prints in 1945, and was awarded 3rd purchase prize by the Library of Congress. One of Hirsch’s fine series of prints he created on the legal profession.
The lithograph is signed in pencil by the artist in the margin below the image lower right: Joseph Hirsch. The image size measures 9 1/2 x 11 1/8 inches, printed on wove paper with margins, the sheet measures 11 5/8 x 15 1/8 inches. The lithograph comes unframed.
It is stated that the projected edition size for this print was to be in an edition of 250, but it has been noted that Associated American Artists (AAA) seldom printed the full edition. Associated American Artists prints were not numbered impressions.
