“STILL LIFE”, 1982 SIGNED ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR PAINTING BY THE AMERICAN ARTIST PAUL ALAN BENNETT
This watercolor painting, of a hand knitted wool glove and sea shells, is signed, dated and titled by the artist lower right corner: PAUL BENNETT 1982 “STILL LIFE”.
Oregon artist Paul Bennett is well known for his “knit” style of watercolor painting. This style emerged after painting a wool glove that he had purchased at The Great Bazaar in Istanbul. This "knit" look is an interesting bridge between surface design and traditional and contemporary methods of painting. Pendleton Woolen Mills selected 16 of his paintings which were made into limited edition wool blankets for their Contemporary Artists “Fine Art Tapestry Series”.
The medium is gouache (opaque watercolor) painted to the edges on a heavy stock watercolor paper with deckle edges measuring 15 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches. The watercolor comes unframed.
