"Materna Sinistra" is a direct exploration of “the monstrous feminine,” a concept from film analysis that examines female archetypes in horror. After giving birth, I came to understand monstrosity not as something rooted in disgust but as a profound source of power and transformation. This piece merges figures of possession and rapture with my cranberry symbolism—a nod to my upbringing on a cranberry farm—arranged in a composition evocative of a family crest.
