"Homage to Magritte"
Artists Statement:
This piece was painted in reference to an old French saying "Nobless Noblige" which literally translates to "Whoever claims to be noble must conduct himself nobly" or more specifically "privilege entails responsibility." Such as one might live their life in a fashion that conforms to one's position, and with the reputation that one has earned.
I was interpreting this saying from a standpoint of a broader perspective, viewing life itself as "nobility" and our life experience a privilege. What we do with this privilege is a choice.
