Sir David Attenborough has long been a source of inspiration to me. His indomitable, yet gracious upbeat approach in the face of devastating climate change and species loss is completely admirable. At the time of painting he is 95 and still working hard for the planet.
I was inspired to paint his portrait in a special way that related to the precious nature of our little blue-green world. Whilst this colour palette was a challenge, I think it speaks the message he would like us to hear.
This image is available in prints of various sizes and mediums, larger sizes are special limited editions.
I have pledged to give 50% of all the profits to the Seven Oaks Sanctuary for Wildlife in Runaway Bay. Run by environmental scientist, Wendy Lee, this sanctuary houses, feeds and protects all the parrots rescued from the illegal pet trade, protected species that can no longer feed themselves in the wild. Wendy has no formal funding and runs this service almost single-handed. You can read more about her amazing story on my blog with the Yellow-billed Parrot painting.
