When I create fiber artworks they reveal my personal journey and the stories I see occurring around me whether it is stories from today, yesterday or those that might be manifesting themselves in the future. After years of accumulating a large body of artwork I became cognizant that my identity is much more influenced by my past than I had originally thought. Thinking more deeply about that thought led me to many more personal reflections. My consensus now is that my identity is connected to everyone I have ever come in contact with throughout my life.
I find this both intriguing and satisfying knowing that whomever I have met through my life has had a little bit of influence on my personality, intelligence, integrity and creativity.
Looking back on my life I have this inspiring and satisfying thought that I have met many interesting and creative people. I am thankful to them. As you view Upward and Onward, think about the substantial quantity of personal interactions you have had and their influence.
