On the surface 50’s Peak looks like a transparent basket sitting at the edge of a barren southwestern landscape. This is a surreal and nostalgic work as Corsini reflected on her youth growing up in the 1950s, a carefree time of seeming innocence and affluence. Decades late, life was more challenging and appeared tenuous in a dangerous world. Unfortunately, unimaginable threats remain abundant in the 21st century.
Technique: Tapestry handwoven with natural dyes. Irregular horizontal stripes frame a color filled basket delineated with small 1” squares.
