Untitled by Ruggero Gamberini, Image 1.
In this compact collage from 2003, Gamberini assembles fragments of oil-painted paper into a tightly balanced abstract composition. Angled planes of colour overlap and interlock, creating a sense of spatial tension within a restrained format. The visible brushstrokes retain the physicality of painting, while the act of cutting and recomposing introduces a measured, architectural logic. Intimate yet deliberate, the work reflects a late-career shift towards reduction, structure, and material precision.
