ALL 🦬 FACTS:
1. Gaur, or also known as the Indian Bison, is a bovine native to South and Southeast Asia.
2.They are the representative animal for 2 states in India - Goa and Bihar.
3.They are relatives of cows, being bovine itself, and are the largest, heaviest, and most powerful known wild cattle on the planet!
4.They are herbivorous - feeding mainly upon grass.
5.Naturally, they would prefer to live in areas with glades and quite open terrain.
6.The muscular hump on males are used to indicate power and lure mates.
7.They have a lifespan of 12-18 years.
8.Gaurs have been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986.
9. A Gaur was cloned in 2001, and became the first cloned endangered species, but died after 48 hours due to causes unrelated to cloning.
10.Due to their size and power, gaur have few natural predators besides humans, tigers, and saltwater crocodiles.
