GREAT BLUE HERON FACTS:
1. Often called "crane", the Great Blue Heron is the largest heron in North America.
2. They can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
3. Despite their impressive size (up to 137 cm in length and up to 201 cm in wingspan), Great Blue Herons weigh only 5 to 6 pounds thanks in part to their hollow bones (a feature all birds share).
4. During flight their neck is curled in an "S" shape while their legs dangle behind their body.
5. They are excellent flyers that can reach speeds of up to 30mph.
