The natural world, close to home and viewed from the studio, greatly influences my drawings and watercolors. Working without preconception and in an improvisational way, I treat the process of watercolor very much like a drawing in color. The new studio is surrounded by gardens with grasses occupying prominent positions around the house. They are my favorite plants in the garden, especially in the Fall when the sprout soft, brushy flowers on the top and then start to fade.
