The wheel of dharma, topped by a protective parasol and flanked by deer, is a traditional Buddhist image. This version is taken from a photograph I took of the statues at the top of the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya at the Drala Mountain center. The predominant stitches used in the embroidery are stem stitch and the Bayeux stitch, used in the ancient tapestry of the same name. I wanted to connect the ancient lineages that inform my life through the simple act of stitch.
