In this piece I take a drive down memory lane, so to speak. Fragments of memories from 1981, my sophomore high school year, were evoked by that iconic section of Golden between the Table Mountains and up Clear Creek Canyon. Prom, visiting friends who worked at Taco John's, images of colors, water, clouds. The poem fragment speaks to those memories:
Pictures float like cottonwood silk
Red car
Willow-green water
Purple prom dress
Salmon-pink thunderheads over Taco John's
The torn edge of memory
