“CELEBES APES”, 1982 SIGNED ORIGINAL LIMITED EDITION ETCHING BY AMERICAN ARTIST AND PRINTMAKER LIZA JONES (b.1944)

This etching, featuring a family of apes, is signed and dated in pencil by the artist in the margin below the image lower right: L Jones 82. The artist titled the etching in pencil in the margin below the image lower center: “Celebes Apes” and also numbered in pencil in the margin below the image lower left: 24/30. This etching is an excellent example of the artist’s mastery of printmaking. The Portland Art Museum has one of the etchings from this edition in their permanent collection.

The plate mark image size measures 17 7/8 x 17 7/8 inches. Printed on white wove paper, the sheet with full margins measures 29 1/2 x 22 3/8 inches. The etching is matted with acid free matboard, and comes unframed.
