Bio
My love for Africa took me to Kenya in the 1970’s where I managed a jewelry store in Nairobi for several years. Our store featured many of the unusual minerals and gemstones found in Africa. There I pursued gemological diplomas from both Britain and the U.S.
Once back in the States, I established A Stone’s Throw Jewelers which enjoyed a retail presence in Fearrington Village, North Carolina for well over 20 years.
Today I concentrate on making up bracelets, earrings and necklaces using natural gem beads, as well as African antique powder glass and Venetian glass trading beads. Some of my gem bead bracelets reflect the hope and encouragement I find in my Christian faith. An example is what I call the “Bruise Bracelet” shown separately.
