Held in the Updraft is part of the Glasscapes series, where abstracted city forms rise within open atmospheric fields.
A strong vertical axis anchors the composition, while layered geometric elements cluster along its length, suggesting an urban spine or narrow corridor. Subtle horizontal interruption adds tension and balance within the structure.
The background shifts between soft grey, muted blush, and deep charcoal, with a concentrated lift of red moving upward through the center. Hand-cut glass components are kiln-fused in multiple firings to create depth, relief, and dimensional layering.
A refined vertical statement piece that reflects upward movement, density, and the energy of a city suspended in motion.
I added a glass "tattoo" design on the whitewashed side of the wood panel which mimics the front and adds interest. This fused glass artwork is 24" x 6"x 2"and is ready to hang.
