Application for Spruill Studios From Spruill Gallery

Spruill Center for the Arts is pleased to request applications for our newest venture, Spruill Studios. Located in the former Chamblee City Hall (5468 Peachtree Road, Chamblee, GA 30341), the adaptive-reuse project features 15 artists' studios, a gallery for displaying work by studio artists, and a gathering space. We are accepting applications from emerging, mid-career and established artists. Our artists-centered space and programming aim to increase the visibility of our cohort members and assist with the promotion of their practices. 

In addition to our gallery and gathering spaces, Spruill Studios offers 24-hour access, video security, secured storage for tools and supplies, free Wi-Fi, free parking, access to and use of a kitchenette, and designated utility sinks for studio artists' use. Spruill Studios is located within walking distance (.6 miles) of the Chamblee MARTA station.

Applicants to the Spruill Studio program will be selected by members of the Atlanta-metro arts community who work as professional artists, arts administrators, collectors and curators. 

Applicant Agreements
By submitting my application, I hereby agree to the following additional requirements:
1. I will commit to the full term of the lease (a period of one year).
2. I agree to carry and provide proof of Commercial General Liability insurance, including listing Spruill Center for the Arts as
     a named insured and maintaining personal property coverage for the contents owned by me, within my studio.
3. I agree to attend or have a representative attend on my behalf at quarterly events held at the studio.
4. I understand that I will be required to successfully complete a background check prior to studio occupancy.

Our panelists will consider visual artists who present thoughtful and dedicated bodies of work and who regularly engage in activities such as exhibitions, public art projects, lectures/symposia, curatorial work or the writing of critical reviews. 

All artists residing or working in the city of Chamblee and the Atlanta-metro area are encouraged to apply. 

Applications require the following: CV, artist bio and artist statement submitted as separate attachments on the Artwork Archive application. The completion of application questions and images of current work (maximum of 6), demonstrating a cohesive and ideas-driven body or bodies of work (No more than 2 bodies of work).

Incomplete applications will not be considered. 
Applications submitted after the March 27 deadline will not be accepted.

Spruill Studios is unable to accommodate artists whose practices require the use of flammable tools or specialized ventilation requirements, such as glass blowing, kilns, welding, and flammable chemicals. If your work involves processes that may harm yourself, others, or the facility, we are unable to accommodate it within the studio or on our site.
