This year's Selection Committee seeks a vibrant public art proposal that will appeal to neighborhood residents, visitors, and business owners. The project and unveiling coincide with Dunwoody's Arts and Cultural Month. Spruill Gallery will maintain the mural's surface for 11 months, pending a new art installation project at the exact location.

The installation site is located on the side of the "Smoke House" on the Spruill Gallery grounds at 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Road, facing the intersection of Ashford Dunwoody and Meadow Lane in Dunwoody, GA, in the Perimeter area. The space is currently home to A Charm of Buntings by the 2025 AMPLIFY winner, Chloe Alexander. Other recent winners include Manty Dey, Rest and Rise, 2024; Charity Hamidullah, Big Hug, 2023; Alice Stone Collins, The Forest for the Trees, 2022; and Alea Hurst, Together We Bloom, 2021. 

Award Info:

The winning submission will receive a $10,000 award, along with a $1,000 materials stipend for the installation. All entries submitted will be eligible for inclusion in the City of Dunwoody's ongoing database of artists and art projects for future consideration of public art projects, including both municipal and commercial projects.

Eligibility Criteria:

This opportunity is open to individual artists and artist teams based within the U.S. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to be eligible. 

Application Requirements:

All submissions must include the following:
  • A letter of intent, not to exceed 250 words, which includes a description of your past work and this project's proposed theme and design. All submissions must consist of sketches of your proposed project.
  • No more than 10 visual representations (digital) of your past projects that demonstrate your skills and ability to create a mural or art installation successfully. Describe the media used and the application process. Include an annotated image key corresponding to each image, describing the pictured site and the scale of the project.
  • A brief bio, no longer than 250 words, including the artist's current place of residence, education, recent exhibition and public art projects.
  • The submission process requires all application images and materials to be digitally submitted. Artists must submit images no larger than 10 MB. Submissions must be submitted via Artwork Archive by the end of the day on the deadline (August 28, 2026).  Artists are encouraged to plan their submissions in advance. Late submissions will not be accepted. 

Rules and Terms:

The design should activate the entire west-facing wall of the "Smoke House" and represent an awareness of the feasibility of production and installation in terms of application and material handling. The designated wall measures approximately 14 feet wide and 6 feet tall, approximating 84 square feet of treated wall space. For proposals of public art projects that include the grounds surrounding the wall, the approximate depth is 9 feet. Guidelines require high-quality mural pigments and materials intended for outdoor use, along with a final UV-sealing varnish and, where applicable, an anti-graffiti topcoat, with an intended exposure period of approximately one year. 

The artist(s) will retain the copyright of their image, granting Spruill Center for the Arts and Spruill Gallery permission to reproduce the image for promotion purposes, including all press, marketing, and social media. Ownership of the work will transfer to Spruill Center for the Arts upon all parties' signing of the contract.
