"This Is Home" - Juried Art Call For Entry From Palette of Roses Art League

"This Is Home" - What does home mean to you? Is it a place, a feeling, a memory, or a state of belonging?

The Palette of Roses Art League (Host) and Gallery Main Street (Venue) invite artists to submit work for “This Is Home,” a juried exhibition exploring the many ways we define, create, and carry home. Whether rooted in a physical space, a cultural tradition, a relationship, or a moment in time, home can be both deeply personal and universally understood.

Through this exhibition, we seek works that examine the layers of belonging — the comfort and complexity, the nostalgia and transformation. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly: home as architecture or landscape, as body or memory, as community or identity.

This exhibition aims to present a diverse and thought-provoking collection of works that together tell a story of what home means today — especially in a world marked by movement, cultural intersections, and redefined belonging.

Located in the heart of downtown Tyler, Gallery Main Street is a premier exhibition space operated by the City of Tyler’s Main Street Program. The gallery showcases rotating exhibits featuring regional and national artists, serving as a cultural hub for the East Texas art community at 110 W Erwin Street, Tyler, Texas 75702. Parking available in the parking garage.

Open to all East Texas Artists  and professional and emerging artists, 18 years and older.
All visual art mediums are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, installation, digital, and textile works.

Description of the artwork is not mandatory but encouraged for the benefit of potential buyers.

**Substrate is the surface the artwork is created on. Such as, canvas, wood panel, paper, ect. Example data entry for Medium: "oil on wood panel", "acrylic on canvas", "watercolor on paper"

Entry fees are non-refundable.

Rules & Terms:
• Entries must have been executed within the last two (2) years.
• Entries must be framed, unless painted on a gallery-wrapped canvas of at least 1/2-inch deep.
• Entries must be no larger than 40 x 40 framed size.
• Entries 36”x 36” or larger under glass must be framed using Plexiglas.
• No pictures with sawtooth hangers will be accepted, noncompliance will lead to art being rejected. Wire hangers are mandatory.
• Digital entries must be hangable with a wire. Framed or unframed
• Entries must be clearly labeled on the back with first & last name, name of artwork, and purchase price or marked NFS (not for sale). .

Eligible Artwork: Two & three dimensional media including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, pottery, pastel, mixed media, installation, digital art, and textile works. (AI generated artworks are not eligible.)

Original Artwork: All entries must be original concepts & compositions and cannot be based on anything that has been published elsewhere including but not limited to published books, magazines, calendars or internet. Copies of other artists’ work are NOT considered original and are not eligible. Artwork done from a published book, magazine, calendar or internet image would not be considered original in concept (just changing a few items in the image does not make it your original concept). Paintings must be solely the work of the artist (artwork completed in whole or part in workshops or under a teacher’s instruction are not eligible)

Reference Images or Reference Photographs: Reference photos must belong to the artist entering. The only exception to this would be if the photographer has given written permission for the artist to use their photograph in whole or part to create an original work of art. It is the responsibility of the artist to maintain records of consent and the willingness to provide documentation upon request.

One Artist Only: All entries must be 100% created by the artist entering and cannot have been painted partially by an instructor. Nor can someone enter the artwork of an artist who is now deceased. Paintings that were created as part of a group workshop where multiple artists painted the same image are NOT eligible.
