Jewelry Artist in Residence Program at Mendocino Art Center Nov 1st- Dec 7th 2026 From Mendocino Art Center

Located where redwoods meet the Pacific ocean on coastal Pomo land Re-formed, is a 5 week  Artist in Residency program at the Mendocino Art Center designed for intermediate and advanced level artists working in the jewelry arts.  This residency provides an opportunity for artists to deepen their practice in a spacious studio with an ocean view while engaging in a supportive artist community.  The structure of the residency will be self-directed and up to the participants on how they would like to spend their time. AIR’s will be housed in a private studio apartment on-site and have 24-hour access to their studio space. AIRs are invited to exhibit their work at the culmination of the residency in one of our galleries.  Teaching opportunities, and discounted classes available.  Residents are encouraged to give an artist talk midway through the residency.

Each resident will have their own furnished studio apartment, outfitted with a queen bed, seating, kitchen, and bathroom.


A cohort of peers

Residents will live in close proximity to each other, and are encouraged to build community in their time here. Residents will also have access to a shared kitchen space for communal meals.

We are looking for proposals that encourage experimental, and sustainable investigations in the metal arts; this can include wearable art, small sculpture, ritual objects as well as traditional jewelry. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply! 

Must be 21 years of age at start of residency.

Sliding scale studio and apartment rental fee: 

1. Seed ($900)
 For those with limited financial access or impacted by structural inequity. By selecting this rate, you are receiving support from others in the community who believe in your voice and your work. We’re honored to make this space accessible to you.

2. Sustain ($1200)
This middle tier reflects the true cost of running the residency. Choosing this rate helps sustain the program and ensures we can continue offering sliding scale access.

3. Abundance ($1800+)
 For those with financial abundance or institutional support.
 Paying at this level helps directly subsidizing seed and scholarship recipients, ensuring this residency remains available to a wide and diverse community of   artists.
