Description:

In January of 2017, four members of Sigma Lambda Beta came together to found Gallery 86 as an online art space. The Gallery hosted its first art show soon after on April 4th to coincide with the founding of the fraternity. The name of that show was "New Beginnings," and it was rooted in the excitement the founders of the Gallery felt as they embarked on this new creative endeavor. As April 4th rolls around again, the Gallery wants to revisit the theme of "new beginnings" but this time from the perspective of an organization operating in its ninth year. Hence, the name of this upcoming art show is "Rebirth" to celebrate the spirit of renewal. Renewal often requires assessing the current state of things and considering how things should change. Subsequently, the Gallery is seeking works that address the theme of rebirth or renewal. Artists are given wide leeway to interpret the theme in any way they see fit, including politically. We're looking for a broad range of works that span from two- to three-dimensional, and conceptual to representational, including even poems and proposals for installations. While submitting work, please be sure to provide a description detailing how each piece addresses the theme.

Gallery 86 is a Latino-based, multicultural arts organization guided by the values of honesty, fearlessness, and art for its own sake. For more information, visit www.gallery86.org.
