Pelican Soaring

This Pelican was one of three that were swooping, diving, catching fish and circling around for another approach. Fascinating to watch, on Jamaica's South Coast, where the beach was wild and unkept, they entertained us for an hour or so while we ate lunch at Little Ochi.

I painted the bird in a blocky contemporary style, using a palette knife.

The canvas is extremely good quality and was imported and custom made for the purpose. The piece can be hung without a frame and has deep sides painted a greyish sky blue.
