Vultures have been representative of death and life throughout history. I was inspired by this, and wanted to create an artwork showing how the vulture interacts in its environment as well as its part of the life cycle. I added a bit of flesh in the mouth of the vulture to create a distinction between the lifelike bird and its part in death and the dead.
Art that displays the beauty and design of the natural world and landscape are what most often intrigue me and inspire my work. I believe that the most interesting images come from nature and the world around us. When creating sculptures I try to fully embody and recreate color, texture, and shape to capture the subject, as well as to appreciate all of the small unnoticed details that may go unseen at first glance.
