Watercolor and graphite on paper, painted while on Residency at the Chateau Orquevaux, France. This drawing is one of a series of such drawings, inspired by a pair of large trees located outside the studio while Michael was working in France. Begun with a number of sketchbook drawings, this drawing evokes contemporary minimal, Chinese painting. Made with inks, watercolor and graphite in a spare vocabulary of interpretive abstraction.
