For the 2025 Long Beach Island Plein Air Event, I chose to follow a single thread of inspiration—the marshes of the island. Each painting reflects a different mood of these wetlands, shifting with the hour of the day and the rhythm of the tides. This particular work was created at the LBI Art and Science Foundation’s nature reserve.
It was late in the day and the sun was starting to set but the sky was filled with clouds. The clouds dulled the sunset colors and produced an overall gray feeling to the day. The wind was excellent for sailing.
