ABOUT MARTINE
Martine van Bijlert is a mixed media artist, poet and researcher who grew up in Iran, now lives in the Netherlands and in between worked as an aid worker, researcher and diplomat, mostly in Afghanistan.
Her work is infused by the debris of conflict and transition, wonderings about hybridity and belonging and a fascination with edges and frays, overlap, overwriting, re-emergence and the repurposing of what has passed but is still there.
Martine's poetry and art has appeared in print and online journals across the world. Her poetry collection Peace, peace they say came out at the end of 2024. Find her analytical writing at the Afghanistan Analysts Network.
