2024 Plans Finally Finished
It’s mid-February and I’m finally finished my creative planning for 2024. Whew! Now all I need to do is paint.

2024 Challenges
- Year of Slow Painting: paint for myself not social media
- Use up all the art supplies I already have before buying new ones
- Don’t use reference photos: paint intuitively and from memory

In addition to these 3 challenges above that I’ve given myself I have decided on a theme to focus my painting. Last year I explored the theme of ‘Continuity and Change,’ which morphed into ‘Plantscapes’ as the theme evolved.
Hidden Worlds
The working title of this year’s theme is ‘Hidden Worlds.’ It dovetails nicely with Challenge 2 above. The idea is to experiment with novel materials ( at least for me ) such as coffee, turmeric, salt, sugar and so on by incorporating them into my painting process. At the same time I will explore their origins, use and characteristics in the painting.
