Marlene Roy
Winnipeg , Manitoba
Paint colour infused with music. Inspired by my outer natural world and my inner emotional world. Always influenced by the music I listen to when painting.
MessageMarlene Roy has been painting for over 35 years and lives and works in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has participated in several group shows and has paintings in private collections in Canada and the United States.
Roy paints semi-abstract and abstract paintings of outer and inner landscapes. She does smaller ‘en plein air’ mixed media on paper at the lake where her cottage is located and larger oils, acrylics and mixed media on canvas and paper in her city studio.

Statement
Sometimes inspired by my outer natural landscapes responding intuitively to their unfolding colours, patterns and rhythms in the light. Sometimes inspired by my inner, emotional landscapes. I always paint to music, which influences my mood, brushstrokes and painting rhythm.
My style is loose and organic. I layer colours, shapes and marks using gestural strokes to create the interplay among my inner and outer landscapes and the music.
