"Synthetic” belongs to the work cycle, Biotope-contained," representing a significant exploration of mortality and conflict through art. Created in 1991, the sculpture titled “Death Beds” features an unsettling yet thought-provoking element—a human carcass fabricated from steel, which evokes the harsh realities of war, particularly reminiscent of the struggles faced during the Gulf War. The second piece of the sculpture incorporates tar, further deepening the narrative of suffering and resilience. In a contemporary reinterpretation, the two floating beds from this original sculpture have been reimagined within an imaginary space adorned with lush rainforest imagery, presented across various screens. This painting serves as a modern iteration of the original sculpture, inviting viewers to engage with the themes of life, death, and the environment in a multifaceted dialogue that spans both time and space.
