Observational nature study based on a common frog skeleton (Rana temporaria)
I'm not sure where this skeleton came from, I stumbled across it while searching my collection boxes. A complete skeleton that had obviously been cleaned by insects while inside it's plastic box.
Drawing is a form of examination. It is fascinating to see the structure and consider how that forms it's movements. Such as the little hook behind the kneecap - surely an attachment to aid the jump.
Words: Rana temporaria. Frogs have teeth on the upper jaw but these are weak and not suitable for chewing. The coiled sticky tongue catches prey and their eyes are used to push the food down.
