Cranefly have always fascinated me: their long gangly legs and delicate wings are a joy to draw whether it's capturing the amazing angles in the field or looking closely at specimens in the studio (carefully gluing legs back in place!) Exploring the field edges, drawing, photographing and sometimes just sitting and watching, collecting information: the final piece, drawn in the studio from specimen and sketches, reliving those quiet moments outside.
