Kerrie Neumann is an abstract mixed media artist based in North Carolina and the founder of Kerrie Neumann Art. With a background in art and design and over 12 years as a professional photographer, Kerrie brings a strong eye for composition, light, and detail to her work on canvas.
Her creative process is intuitive and rooted in emotion, guided more by feeling than form. Her work often explores the beauty in contrast—how layered textures, bold color, and raw marks can reflect both the messy and the meaningful. She’s inspired by the idea that life’s imperfect, fractured moments are just as powerful as the polished ones.
She believes art doesn’t have to represent something specific to connect deeply. Instead, her pieces invite viewers to find their own meaning, memories, and moments within the layers.
Statement
I paint because words are too tidy. Life isn’t. It’s layered, textured, messy, bold, quiet, loud...and so is my art.
For years, I tucked parts of myself away, I was busy with life, family and doing all the things that make a good story but leave little room for your own pages. And then one day, I picked up a brush again, not to make anything perfect, but to remember who I was underneath it all. Now, I paint to feel alive.
I chase color the way some people chase sunsets. I use bold greens, moody blues, colors that shout and whisper at the same time. Texture is my favorite language. I build it up, tear it down, let it surprise me. I never know exactly where a piece is going, and honestly, that’s the magic.
My hope? That someone stands in front of my art and thinks, “Yes. That’s me. I feel that.” I want my work to wrap around people like a good story or a favorite song. To hopefully make someone feel Hope and Love and apart of something bigger in life.
It’s becoming. It’s freedom. It’s finally letting my true self take up space, loud, soft, brave, and beautifully imperfect.
