I used a transparency of a section of the South Table Mountain topo map and layered it with a lace doily to print onto the damask tablecloth fabric using a cyanotype technique, which is a historical photographic method. I loved the pattern created by the doily and so highlighted it with beads. The topo lines running through the doily reminded me of the Milky Way, which led to the star sequins. It fascinates me how the topo map imagery, especially when layered with other imagery, will point to something very different, even the opposite--earth pointing to sky.
