Julie Olson
Arvilla, ND
Artist from the age of 6. Took a detour to graphic design school. Art Director in Washington DC. Moved to The Middle of Nowhere and became an artist again.
MessageJulie Olson has been an artist since she could hold a pencil. The best gift ever from Santa was an oil painting kit at 15. Talked into going to college for a “real job”, so she earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Arizona State University. After college, she moved to Washington DC and became graphic designer, then Art Director, at USDA. After 22 years in DC, she moved home to care for elderly mother, and took an oil painting course for her sanity. She started her business with the very appropriate name: The Middle of Nowhete Studio. Eventually she won a grant for a start-up art business from the state of North Dakota in 2016. Bored one day, she picked up some alcohol inks and never looked back. Julie has sold paintings to India, Australia, UK, Germany, and all over USA. From The Olson Farm, her family’s working family farm in eastern North Dakota. No, not Fargo. A little further North. She 2 corgis and a garage-size heated studio that was her father’s workshop. Thanks, Dad.
