After spending three transformative months alone in Costa Rica, I returned home carrying with me a profound sense of freedom and presence that felt almost otherworldly. Tamarindo Sunset was painted not on the shores of that vibrant coastline, but in the quiet of my studio, as a way to reconnect with the memories and emotions of that time. It is an attempt to hold onto the slow, natural rhythm of the tides, the salt still fresh on my skin, and the laughter that floated through the palm trees.
The sky in the painting burns with the intense, saturated hues I remembered—colors that no photograph could ever truly capture. Each brushstroke became a way to bridge the distance between the wild freedom I experienced abroad and the slower, often more complicated pace of life back home. Surfing, teaching yoga, and the simplicity of daily moments in Costa Rica helped me find a clearer sense of identity and individuality, but returning brought with it the challenge of rediscovering that liberation within everyday routine.
Tamarindo Sunset is both a celebration and a meditation—a visual expression of longing, memory, and the search to reclaim that feeling of living fully present. It’s a reminder that even when we leave a place, its spirit remains alive inside us, waiting to be awakened again through art, breath, and the deep connection between the self and the natural world.
