VOM + JJ
VOM + JJ special collection combines my artistic skills with my passion for helping others by way of offering unique album art for Voice of Maasai music label. Made from layers of cut paper and rich graphics, the format is inspired by the nostalgic 12" vinyl record covers, paying homage to keeping the music (the story) alive.
Cutaway
Combining my fascination with paper, my obsession with the profile and my skills in graphic design, Cutaway explores the unique inner nature of a person's story; probing dreams, ambitions, and love through the essence of individual identity. Made from layers of cut paper, meticulously designed and arranged inside wooden shadowbox frames makes these pieces deal art for offices or hotels, sold as commissioned editions.
Aging In Color
Prying into aging with a palette knife, I explore its complexity and uneasiness through color, form and gestural marks. When done right, the creativity itself is my fountain of youth, an extraordinarily powerful process of opportunity and strength.
Civil Speed
Perceptions through illustrated light.
Civil Speed captures current events and patterns within our civil societies through illustrated light. Combining my love of photography, graphic design and digital collage, sources of light are captured at a very slow shutter speed to create the background for the composition, next illustrated with vector graphics to convey "the speed of life." Printed as Open Editions on aluminum with gloss finish in range of sizes per request.
Isa & Nio
Merging my interests in science-fiction with my skills in digital collage, Isa and Nio is a graphic story of two female guardians, once espers on earth, who have matured into drifting cellular structures. Inspired by my daughter, Niosha, and Isabella, a young Maasai woman.
MyPOP
My Print on Poverty uses art as a purpose-driven awareness and action tool for moving out of dysfunctional cycles of poverty. Revealing the inherent contradictions between the idealized steps to prosperity and the often harsh, despairing reality of climbing the soci-economic ladder with limited resources.
Ideal art for offices or hotels, sold as commissioned edition, can be printed various substrates. Many size options.
Paper People
Inspired by my time spent with the Maasai, I borrow their phrase for foreigners "Paper People" to explore vulnerability through medium and place. The stylized slabs are made from up-cycled paper-pulp with odds-and-ends embellishments, capturing a chic aura juxtaposed with a mood hinting at lost civilizations. Revealing that even the most mundane of resources can be used in fascinating ways, my aesthetic is centered on transience, imperfection and forces of nature.
