The Mothman was originally sighted in West Virginia in 1966-67. Scientists put these sightings down to a stray Sandhill Crane who wandered into the area. Seven feet tall with large red eyes, the Mothman has also been said to be an alien, an interdimensional traveler, and a monster. He is able to fly at great speed, with a lot of terrifying noise. I am fond of the interdimensional traveler thought, so this Mothman is breaking through from the other side, causing a small storm in the swamp, and is just catching sight of you and your peeping eyes. Be careful, he's been accused of causing bridges to collapse. The main reason I find Mothman intriguing is that a few sightings of something unexplained in West Virginia in the 60s has morphed into a huge festival in Point Pleasant. 'The creature' also now 'lives' in several states, including New Jersey. There is something wonderful about this high speed noisy giant who appears and disappears without warning. I think we all chafe at our 'normal' lives, and both long for the mysterious and love to be afraid of it. Protip: I have had many 'inexplicable' experiences, wonderful and beyond 'thisworld'. Things most people wouldn't believe. I keep those to myself, for the most part. Don't scare off the magic by publicizing it.
