Statement
Attracted to shadows and repeating patterns which become evident in my art, whether photography or painting, I like to move the color around the composition to lead the eye in a dance.
The geometric collection was inspired by repeating patterns found in shadows and architecture. I abstracted these elements and played with different palettes of color.
I love to let the paint lead me where it will. A preconceived composition may be the beginning but it changes once the paint speaks. This is especially true with the acrylic pouring I have been doing lately.
Photography was my first visual art and I have a B.S. from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Painting is more immediate though and I like being immersed in the media which is often evident from the paint on my clothes! Living in Albuquerque, I am a member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, the Rio Grande Art Association, Rainbow Artists and the National League of American Pen Women. My paintings have been exhibited in numerous venues in New Mexico and are in collections across the country.
