A visualization of light refracting through a low resolution sphere.

Refraction Sphere is a flat, wall-mounted light work fabricated from metal, LEDs, and color filters. Although physically planar, its segmented light surfaces produce a 3D illusion, reading as a low-resolution sphere. Color gradients and edge-lit transitions move across neighboring panels, suggesting light refracting through a solid material.

The work references the Earth implied by the Dymaxion map. Its modular geometry points to how we partition, flatten, and recombine the world’s geography, and to the representational systems that shape how we understand global space.
