I paint on outer Cape Cod and in the Berkshires, connecting my inner and outworlds through in the spiraling passage of time and space
MessageStatement
I explore the spiral of time and space through a visual language evolved from painting simple found treasure of shells, seaweed, stones, bones, moths and debris. These talismans ground me to who I am and to the art I create. Moments of sharp clarity are balanced by ephemeral glimpses of deep shifting moods and experiences. I aim to stay in the flow, moving energy through me and into my work with required variable proportions of curiosity, expansiveness, tenderness, patience, fierceness, and fluidity. I cycle through attachment and detachment as I move paint around the canvas building up color and texture and then cutting away form. Each layer is a now moment that reflects my interior and exterior world and is always changing. Nothing needs to be clung to. It can not be. Sometimes I feel precious as I work, this is part of the process. Sometimes I am impulsive or intense. I strive to create with my expanded heart and quiet mind in sync, though there are multitudes of meandering explorations and emotions along the way, each valuable and appreciated.
